NastiGi (born Gianluca Nasticola; 1969, Naples) is an Italian bassist, multi-instrumentalist, and songwriter based in London.
Biography
editEarly years and collaborations (1989–1999)
editNastiGi began his musical career in Naples in 1989. During the 1990s, he participated in various alternative music projects, contributing to the compilations Senza Tetto Non Ci Sto (1993) and Canta Napoli Antifascista (1994). In the mid-1990s, he collaborated with the collective Piombo a Tempo, featuring on the album Cattivi Maestri (1995). Between 1997 and 1999, he worked as a songwriter and bassist for Maurizio Capone and the Compagnia Nuove Indye, contributing to the albums Sciarap002 (1997) and Murmurii (1999).
Relocation to London and solo career
editIn 1999, he relocated to London. As a member of the band Heaven's Heathens, he received a nomination at the 2006 Los Angeles Music Awards for the song "In The Morning Light".Newsdesk, British unsigned band nominated for best single in L.A., Music-News.com, November 8, 2006.
Since 2017, he has focused on his solo project, oriented toward alternative rock. He released his self-titled album NastiGi in 2020. That same year, he participated in the international choral project "We'll Stay Together," coordinated by the network The Indie Collaborative.
Critical reception
editNastiGi's solo work has received coverage in various independent music publications.
