Ramy Brook Sharp is an American fashion designer and entrepreneur. She is the founder and creative director of the women's contemporary fashion label Ramy Brook, which she launched in 2010.[1]
Early life
editSharp grew up in New Jersey and attended Chatham High School.[2] In interviews, she has described developing an early interest in clothing and design, including altering garments at a young age.[2]
Before entering the fashion industry professionally, Sharp worked in advertising, an experience she has cited as part of her broader professional background prior to launching her own label.[3]
Career
editSharp founded Ramy Brook in 2010. Media profiles have described the brand’s origins as deliberately small, noting that Sharp initially developed a limited collection consisting of six tops and one dress.[2][4] Early sales took place through trunk shows and personal networks, including an early trunk show hosted at her sister’s home in Short Hills, New Jersey.[2]
During the COVID-19 pandemic, Sharp discussed the company’s increased focus on direct-to-consumer and e-commerce strategies in interviews with fashion industry publications.[5]
Philanthropy and recognition
editSharp has been publicly recognized in connection with philanthropic and community-focused initiatives. In 2016, she was named an honoree associated with City of Hope’s Spirit of Life luncheon through the organization’s East End Chapter.[6][7]
Later in 2016, she was also recognized at the New York Renaissance Basketball Association (RENS) gala for her involvement with youth and community initiatives.[8]
In 2018, Sharp was honored at the Samuel Waxman Cancer Research Foundation’s Hamptons Happening benefit, with coverage noting her involvement in cancer research fundraising efforts.[9]
