Pacific Hospitality Group is a hotel management and ownership company that operates a portfolio of boutique and independent hotels, as well as a smaller number of franchised properties affiliated with brands such as Marriott, Hilton, and Hyatt.

History

In 2013, the company established the Meritage Collection to group several of its independent, upscale hotels under a single portfolio. Industry coverage at the time described the initiative as a way to organize these properties separately from its branded hotel operations while maintaining their individual identities.

The creation of the Meritage Collection was inspired by a broader industry trend toward collections of independently styled hotels managed by a single operator. These collections generally emphasize variation in design, location, and amenities across properties rather than standardized offerings. As the Meritage Collection has grown so has each property's sustainability efforts, implementing practices across its portfolio to reduce environmental impact.

By the mid 2020s, the collection included properties in California, Hawaii, and Texas, with an additional development planned to open in fall of 2026 in Arizona. The planned hotel in Phoenix represents the collection’s first location in a downtown urban setting, differing from its earlier focus on resort destinations.

Meritage Collection

The Meritage Collection properties operate primarily as independent boutique hotels, each with its own branding, architectural style, and amenities, while being managed under the same corporate umbrella.

The independent boutique hotels include the following:

• Pasèa Hotel & Spa - Located in Huntington Beach, California, Pasèa Hotel & Spa opened in 2016 and serves as the Meritage Collection’s flagship coastal property, designed for guests seeking a luxury-style hotel experience. It includes several hundred guest rooms and suites, multiple dining venues, and a full-service spa.

• The Meritage Resort & Spa - Situated in Napa Valley, California, The Meritage Resort & Spa is one of the largest properties in the collection. It is notable for its extensive event and conference facilities, making it a venue for corporate retreats, weddings, and regional events. Another highlight of the resort is it’s use of a former wine cave repurposed as a spa facility, as well as its proximity to Napa Valley wineries and vineyards.

• Koʻa Kea Resort - Koʻa Kea Resort is a boutique oceanfront hotel located on Kauai’s south shore in Poʻipū. With just over 100 guest rooms, it is one of the smaller properties in the collection. The property includes on-site dining, spa services, and direct access to the beach.

• Hotel Viata - Hotel Viata, located in West Lake Hills near Austin, Texas, was reintroduced under the Meritage Collection following a repositioning of the property. The hotel blends Mediterranean-inspired architecture with resort-style amenities, including dining venues, spa facilities, and outdoor recreation areas.

• Denū Hotel & Spa - The newly announced Denū Hotel & Spa in downtown Phoenix, Arizona has been introduced as an independent, four-star property. The hotel is expected to open in fall of 2026 and will include guest rooms, food-and-beverage venues, and meeting space. It is positioned as the Meritage Collection’s first major urban hotel, expanding beyond its established resort-focused portfolio.

Pacific Hospitality Group also manages several franchised properties under well-known brands such as Marriott, Hilton and Hyatts. The hotels are listed below:

• AC Hotel Residence Inn Dallas - Located in Dallas, Texas, this hotel is a dual-branded hotel that combines Marriott's AC Hotel and Residence Inn brands within the same property. It includes both standard guest rooms and extended-stay suites with kitchens, along with shared amenities such as fitness centers and common areas.
• AC Hotel Irvine - AC Hotel Irvine is a Marriott-branded hotel located in Irvine, California, near John Wayne Airport. The property includes guest rooms, a lounge, meeting space, a fitness center, and an outdoor pool.
• AC Hotel Phoenix Tempe Downtown - AC Hotel Phoenix Tempe Downtown is located in Tempe, Arizona, near Arizona State University.
• DoubleTree by Hilton Irvine Spectrum - DoubleTree by Hilton Irvine Spectrum is a Hilton-branded hotel located in Irvine, California, near the Irvine Spectrum area.
• Hotel Zessa Orange County, A DoubleTree by Hilton - Hotel Zessa Orange County is a DoubleTree by Hilton property located in Orange County, California.
• Hyatt Place Phoenix - Hyatt Place Phoenix / Downtown is a Hyatt-branded hotel located in downtown Phoenix, Arizona.

Loyalty Program

Pacific Hospitality Group rolled out Stay Golden in 2024, a loyalty program covering every Meritage Collection property. The program provides experiential rewards rather than points, designed specifically for the collections limited portfolio.

Stay Golden features two elite tiers, 18 Karat and 24 Karat, based on the number of nights stayed each year. Benefits vary by tier and property and may include room upgrades when available, late check out, spa perks, and invitations to select on property events. Joining the program is free and entirely optional.
