  1. Of the 108 F2A-3s initially in service witht the US Navy, many would almost immediately be transferred to the USMC. Exactly how many is unclear.
  2. 2,661 is the total amount of PBYs produced in the United States during the course of the war. The exact number that served with the U.S. Navy is unknown.
  3. The single Model 10 in use with the Navy, designated the XR2O-1, was designed specifically for use by the Secretary of the Navy.
