Snibbs is an American footwear company headquartered in Los Angeles, California, that designs slip-resistant work shoes for hospitality, healthcare, and other service-industry workers. The company was founded by chef and entrepreneur Daniel Shemtob, orthopedic surgeon Jason Snibbe, and Haik Zadoyan, and publicly launched its first product in April 2022 after several years of development.[1][2]
History
editThe concept for Snibbs originated after Shemtob suffered a back injury from a kitchen fall while preparing to open the restaurant Hatch Yakitori + Bar in Los Angeles. He partnered with orthopedic surgeon Jason Snibbe and Haik Zadoyan to develop a slip-resistant shoe designed for restaurant kitchens and similar work environments.[2][3]
The company spent approximately four years developing its first shoe, the SpaceCloud sneaker, before publicly launching the brand in April 2022. Early development emphasized slip resistance and the use of recycled or eco-friendly materials.[1]
Products
editSnibbs's initial product was the SpaceCloud, a slip-resistant work sneaker marketed to hospitality and service workers.[1] In April 2025, the company released its first boot, the Pro, priced at $170 and marketed for kitchen and outdoor work environments, with the brand stating the boot was made from nearly entirely recycled or eco-friendly materials.[4]
Collaborations
editIn October 2025, Snibbs released "The Nancy," a clog co-designed with Los Angeles chef Nancy Silverton. The shoe debuted on October 17, 2025, at a retail price of $149 and was offered in three colorways named Sage, Porcini, and Tellicherry. Its non-slip outsole pattern was described as inspired by pasta shapes.[5][6][7]
In March 2025, Snibbs partnered with apron-maker Hedley & Bennett on a collaboration whose proceeds benefitted Los Angeles food and beverage workers affected by the January 2025 wildfires.[8]
Community and philanthropy
editFollowing the January 2025 Palisades Fire, in which Shemtob lost his home, Snibbs participated in disaster-relief efforts in the Los Angeles area. Reporting by the Associated Press noted that Shemtob and his crew distributed approximately 750 meals and 200 pairs of Snibbs shoes in a single night at relief sites.[9] LAist reported that Snibbs shoes were distributed alongside meals at Altadena distribution sites in partnership with World Central Kitchen.[10] The Hollywood Reporter included Snibbs in a roundup of Los Angeles restaurant-community wildfire relief efforts, noting food and shoe distribution at pop-up sites including the Rose Bowl.[11]
Entrepreneur reported that, by late 2025, Snibbs had donated more than 1,000 pairs of shoes to hospitality workers through a community giveback program.[3] SoCalPulse reported the program provides $500 grants and free footwear to service-industry workers experiencing hardship.[7]
Reception
editThe independent footwear-review site WearTesters reviewed the SpaceCloud in 2022 and awarded it 8.5 out of 10 after testing across food-service, retail, and hospitality use cases.[12]
