Reviews search engine

edit

Permanent link to search engine

This engine is designed to search for reviews. To use it, simply search the name of the series in quotes (e.g. "Naruto"). Don't add additional terms like "review" or "rating".[1]

Custom filters

edit

Each bold name refers to a search tab in the engine.

  • Exclude news sites: removes Otaku USA, Anime Corner, The Fandom Post, and Anitrendz, which tend to generate mostly routine coverage (e.g. announcement dates).
  • Lower quality sites: includes Game Rant, Screen Rant, and Comic Book Resources, which can be used under certain circumstances. By default, they are excluded from all other tabs as well as standard search.
  • Project-vetted sources only: excludes sources discussed as reliable but not formally added to a WikiProject's reliable sources list.

Additional settings

edit

None of this information is needed to use the search engine. This is for documentation purposes only.

  • Exclude ANN's encyclopedia, forums, and routine news features
  • Upweight results with "review", "rating" keywords
  • Downweight unreliable sources so that they only show up in separate tabs

Japanese sources search engine

In-progress, likely to be released around late May 2026

Notes

edit
  1. Doing so will often lead to legitimate reviews being filtered out because they don't have those exact keywords. The engine is already designed to prioritize review pages by using preset keyword weights.
