Bonnie Bennett is a fictions character from the novel "The Vampire Diaries" set in the fictional town of "Mystic Falls" . She is portrayed by the actress Kat Graham. In the books she is portrayed as a shy, timid and, passive but in the television adaption she is anything but those things, she is selfless and known as a martyr. She has been best friends with Elena Gilbert and Caroline Forbes for her whole life and once she discovers that she's a witch and Elena meets the Salvatore brothers her life takes a turn.

Bonnie comes from a long line of witches dating back to The Salem Witch Trails. Once she discovers she has powers she quickly begins to enhance her skills while being taught by her grandmother. As seasons go on Bonnie shows her selflessness in many ways, she dies multiple times for her friends and push herself to far lengths in order to save their lives. In the fourth season she dies in order to save Elenas brother life and did not return until season five as an anchor to "The Other Side". While Graham has stated that she is appreciative for this role she also goes over how many struggles she had to overcome to play this character.

Julie Plec (a co-creater of the vampire diaries) described Graham as “Katerina Graham who’s just this like bubbly light a wonderful, beautiful energy came in, and she had that part right away.”Graham was struggling financially before landing this role and sleeping on an inflatable mattress in her mothers home. Graham states that seeing her mother conquer through her struggles was a big inspiration for her preserveing through her troubles as well, she says this about her financial troubles “It showed me that even if you have no money, even if everything is almost working against you, you can still believe that you’re worth a good life. And we fought for [that]."

Bonnie Bennett had many different relationships throughout the eight seasons of "The Vampire Diaries". In season one she only has relationships with her grandmother, Elena and Caroline. this changes significantly as seasons go on. Bonnies grandmother who is more known as "Grams" helped bonnie learn about witchcraft and helped her hone her skills in the ability. Bonnie and Caroline's friendship grows more after Caroline turns into a vampire after the tenth episode of season one. Bonnie and Elena have been friends since childhood and have remained extremely close since. During the early seasons of The Vampire Diaries Damon and Bonnie aren't very close but at the end of season five Bonnie and Damon get caught in a "Prison World", they get stuck here for a few months and this causes them to build a great relationship and mutual respect for one another. This relationship does get strained throughout problems and disagreements throughout seasons six through eight. During the last episodes of the series there isn't much a friendship between the two due to Stefan (Damons brother) killing her boyfriend Enzo


Romances

Bonnie gets into a romantic relationship with Elenas brother, Jermey in season two, Jermey becomes very protective over Bonnie because she usually puts herself in harms way to protect others, this cause a major strain in their relationship. Jeremy and Bonnie eventually break up due to Jermey cheating. Later in the series Bonnie grows close to Enzo, they save each others lives on multiple occasions and end up hiding from enemies together in a home which is where their relationships grows. Enzo and Bonnie have a great relationship and even plan on leaving Mystic Falls together but before they could do that Stefan ends up killing Enzo.
