User:Beejamjam/Lectern investigation/Blue Goose gallery
This is a part of my investigation of Presidential lecterns. This page is a gallery of identified Blue Goose lecterns. I have given each one a nickname, generally based on what I think the wood grain resembles, or any other identifying features.
First seen in the 1970s
editBreather
editThis is the earliest lectern I have found thus far, looking like it has a pair of lungs on the right of the front panel and featuring an extra plank of wood seemingly stuck on just above the base. It seems to have followed Gerald Ford largely in 1975 to various states.

Drippy
editAngel
editWith some angel-like wings in the wood grain, this lectern took a trip with Carter around Europe and likely Asia in 1977, and was likely with him on Air Force One for trips to Egypt and various US states. Under Reagan, it attended CPAC 1982, and was used in the "tear down this wall" speech. Under H.W. Bush, there are a few photos of its use in November 1992 by Dan Quayle at Marshall Space Flight Center.

Tears
editI called this one Tears because it appears to have 'eyes' in the top corners that appear to be crying. It's also recognisable by the triangular shape in the middle which becomes wider toward the base. This one in particular could be seen at the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library in Ventura County in 2021.[1]

Slab
editThis lectern had its first use seemingly under Carter in 1978; I couldn't find any more photos of it until Reagan's administration under which it had extensive use. Between June 1984 and November 1985, a clasp was added, similarly to the lectern I've named Claspy, though a little lower.
