Averna was founded in 1999 in Montreal by Pascal Pilon, Richard Maltais, and Adil Lahlou. Since its founding, Averna has expanded into a multinational organization with more than 1,200 employees and offices in 11 countries. In 2024, Averna marked its 25th anniversary, commemorating two and a half decades of activity in test and measurement technologies.[2]

Within in this strategy, Spherea, based in Toulouse France acquired Averna to further expand the service portfolio and the geographic reach.[3] The Averna brand remains in place, powered by Spherea as both companies continue to operate in parallel.
