Agrivoltaics

edit

Agrivoltaics, or agrovoltaics, is the simultaneous use of land for solar energy production and agriculture. Solar panels are elevated to allow crops to grow underneath, improving land use efficiency and offering dual revenue streams for farmers. Benefits include environmental advantages—such as cooler microclimates and reduced water loss—and economic opportunities through leasing land for solar installations. However, success depends on selecting shade-tolerant crops and addressing potential reductions in energy yield compared to conventional solar farms.
