I am Ailsa Boyd, an independent researcher in art, design, literature and culture historian with a particular interest in the long nineteenth century. I have been a research assistant in several major research projects at the University of Glasgow, a curator and gallery assistant at The Collins Gallery, University of Strathclyde.
Current research
editMy PhD research was on the literature and lives of George Eliot, Henry James and Edith Wharton, and the architects they worked with: Owen Jones, Basil Champneys, Edward Prioleau Warren, Ogden Codman, Jr.
Recently my research has been focused on the architecture of nineteenth-century Glasgow, including the Arlington Baths Club and the little-known architect Robert Duncan. I have also researched the architect for department store Lewis's, Gerald de Courcy Fraser.
