Should this be used to categorise redirects to books?
editHi, I'm asking if this template should be used on redirects that point to book titles, for example from short names (as I did on The Way to the Top) or alternative names (Blade Runner (1982 novel)). The language of the template is not clear on this, but it italicises the title of the redirect, which suggests its use. I suppose a similar issue is with {{R from character}} in case of redirects to a fictional character from their alternative name (Peter Parker, Bruce Wayne and Sheik (Legend of Zelda)) —Biexx (talk) 09:00, 1 July 2018 (UTC)
- Tentatively, I think so, although the current template description is conflicted. Dingolover6969 (talk) 04:41, 5 May 2026 (UTC)
Unprintworthy by default?
editI'm not sure this is a good idea; has there been consensus for this? 1234qwer1234qwer4 17:50, 5 April 2026 (UTC)
- Yes, I agree with you, User:1234qwer1234qwer4, now that you mention it. Surely the point of pw is that you could look it up in a physical index alphabetically, or similar, so the current justification in the template of
Since redirected book titles are already mentioned in author and publisher articles, they are usually not needed in the printed version unless they are notable enough to have their own article.
doesn't make sense to me. If I just have the book on hand, and the Print Wikipedia™ in the other hand, how am I going to look in the index for the article that covers the book, unless the book title is in the index? (Or we just imagine that we have a CD Wikipedia™ with a search feature in it (and no index that the user prefers to use), and I don't see what the point is of pw then at all.)
