Should this 1984 1/2 be included? DrWho42 02:30, 6 July 2006 (UTC)
- I think it shouldn't. Many films have similar dystopic themes and I think only the ones that are directly connected to Nineteen Eighty-Four should be included. Brazil (film)#Analysis mentions 1984, but also Star Wars, The Matrix, etc. I haven't seen the film so I'm not absolutely sure, but judging from its WP page, I think it shouldn't be included. --Zoz (t) 14:17, 9 July 2006 (UTC)
- I really recommend that you see Brazil.. They were originally going to title it 1984 1/2 stating that it was a satire of that satire, but what with the film-adaptation of the actual book and the Orwell estate not allowing it they had to change it. DrWho42 23:06, 29 July 2006 (UTC)
1985
editQUOTE: "Many films have similar dystopic themes and I think only the ones that are directly connected to Nineteen Eighty-Four should be included."
Based on your opinion above, I've removed '1985' from this template, as the plot doesn't appear to be derived from 1984 (except in the general sense that it's a dystopia set in Britain). --Apeloverage 06:10, 6 December 2006 (UTC)
The Brotherhood
editI removed the brotherhood, seeing as it is a deleted page. Midorihana(talk)(contribs) 02:58, 27 October 2007 (UTC)

Concepts
editIn my opinion Doublespeak and Groupthink should not appear in this template under Concepts as they are not terms used in the novel. As stated in both articles they are concepts influenced by the novel and should therefore be in the related section. Their current placement may give the impression that they are terms used within the novel itself. Fieryninja (talk) 22:20, 14 October 2025 (UTC)
- Doublespeak is. So is duckspeak. Groupthink is related. PhilDaBirdMan (Talk |WikiProject Socialism | Current Incubator Initiative) 22:26, 14 October 2025 (UTC)
The Road to 1984 (1984)
editShouldn't we add a link to the film The Road to 1984 (dir. David Wheatley, 1984)? ~2025-31208-44 (talk) 00:23, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
Forty Minutes: 1984: Voices in a City
editShouldn't we add a link to the film Forty Minutes: 1984: Voices in a City (directed by Ted Clisby), which aired on January 5, 1984? This film compares life in Orwell's novel and the reality of life in 1984. ~2025-31208-44 (talk) 03:43, 12 January 2026 (UTC)
"Theatre 625" The World of George Orwell: 1984
