Template documentation

This is the WikiProject banner template used by WikiProject South America to keep track of articles within its scope. All articles are categorised into Category:WikiProject South America articles.

Basic usage

Place this on the talk page of relevant articles:

Parameters

• importance – see #Importance assessment below.
• category – set |category=no if, and only if, a banner is being used for demonstration or testing purposes, to prevent unnecessary or undesirable categorization. Otherwise, omit this parameter.

Notes and alerts

• attention – set |attention=yes if the article needs immediate attention from experienced editors. Use only if another parameter does not cover the need for attention; this should be used sparingly. It is strongly encouraged to also add a section to the talk page explaining what needs attention. This parameter populates Category:South America articles needing attention.
• needs-infobox – set |needs-infobox=yes if the article needs an infobox. Remember that infoboxes are not suitable for all articles, and can overwhelm short articles. This parameter populates Category:South America articles without infoboxes.

Task forces

• Argentina – set |Argentina=yes if the article is supported by WikiProject Argentina. This parameter populates Category:WikiProject Argentina articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Argentine articles by quality based on the |class= parameter in the banner shell.
• Argentina-importance – This parameter sets the importance of the article according to WikiProject Argentina. It populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Argentine articles by importance. See #Importance assessment for valid values.
• Bolivia – set |Bolivia=yes if the article is supported by WikiProject Bolivia. This parameter populates Category:WikiProject Bolivia articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Bolivia articles by quality based on the |class= parameter in the banner shell.
• Bolivia-importance – This parameter sets the importance of the article according to WikiProject Bolivia. It populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Bolivia articles by importance. See #Importance assessment for valid values.
• Brazil – set |Brazil=yes if the article is supported by WikiProject Brazil. This parameter populates Category:WikiProject Brazil articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Brazil articles by quality based on the |class= parameter in the banner shell.
• Brazil-importance – This parameter sets the importance of the article according to WikiProject Brazil. It populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Brazil articles by importance. See #Importance assessment for valid values.
• Chile – set |Chile=yes if the article is supported by WikiProject Chile. This parameter populates Category:WikiProject Chile articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Chile articles by quality based on the |class= parameter in the banner shell.

• Ecuador – set |Ecuador=yes if the article is supported by WikiProject Ecuador. This parameter populates Category:WikiProject Ecuador articles. This parameter populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Ecuador articles by quality based on the |class= parameter in the banner shell.
• Ecuador-importance – This parameter sets the importance of the article according to WikiProject Ecuador. It populates the relevant subcategory of Category:Ecuador articles by importance. See #Importance assessment for valid values.
• Galapagos – set |Galapagos=yes if the article is supported by the Galápagos Islands task force. This parameter populates Category:Galápagos Islands task force articles.

• South Georgia-importance – This parameter sets the importance of the article according to the South Georgia and the South Sandwich Islands work group. • South American MH – set |South American MH=yes if the article is supported by the South American military history task force. This parameter populates Category:South American military history task force articles.
