This template is for tagging flags on the article "List of British flags" and similar articles on British flags. It inserts a note and a reference.
The fields to use are:
1. Tag for how the flag is verified or was created, for which we have:

| banner | (banner of a local authority's arms) |
| BBC | (BBC competition) |
| comp | (other public competition) |
| Lyon | (granted by the Lord Lyon) |
| released | (design released for public use by a local authority) |
2. Reference:
- where the template is tagged "regd", just use the name of the flag (eg. "Buckinghamshire" or "Isle_of_Wight")
- Otherwise give the full web address
