Collection of zines based on Wikipedia articles on Are.na

edit

This collections of Wikipedia Zines on Are.na could be an inspiration for the WMNYC zine @Pharos is brainstorming. Ping: @Pacita (WikiNYC) https://www.are.na/multi-studio-wikipedia-zines/zine-upload - Wil540 art (talk) 15:46, 10 April 2025 (UTC)Reply

Why don't we merge this with the Fanzine article?

edit

Sorry I'm mainly from Catalan & Spanish Wikipedia, but stumbled upon this page and also Fanzine and I don't really get why there is not a disambiguation page in this case, which confuses in my opinion a little bit the current uses of "zine" as "fanzines" in popular culture and knowledge. I'm a zine librarian and would not like to see these pages merged. They both have significant histories tied to each term. I've made some edits to the lead paragraph that clarify a fanzine is just one type of zine, along with, for example, perzine or punk zine. Skvader (talk) 13:43, 28 May 2025 (UTC)Reply

This source is a peer reviewed academic journal article that explores women in zine-making during the pandemic. We thought it would be a good addition to the article because it lacks recent information on feminist movements and how zines are a multi-modal genre that can be adjusted for the digital world.

Modern zine conventions.

edit

It seems to me that this article could use additional information regarding modern zine conventions and trends. A good source has already been mentioned in this talk page however, I have a couple more that I feel could be incorporated into this article to increase modern representation. All sources are credible and academic. 2nd source can also be used to increase global representation in this article, I know other Wiki pages already exist but a brief overview of zine culture across the globe would be beneficial. - Berrcm25

Section Organisation

edit

Hello,

From reading this article I've gotten a strong impression that the sections are disorganised (comparatively) unexpected, and do not help the article read consistently or in a composed manner. Hence I tagged it, however I am no expert on zines and can't make fixes beyond the obivous so for a talk topic it would be good to ask, what would be a better article structure here?

Thanks, MKH1020 (talk) 19:03, 21 May 2026 (UTC)Reply
