Services section request

edit

Hi, it's been a while but it's Haley from Zillow here with another edit request. Thank you for your patience as I worked through some editor feedback and notes. I'm sending updates incrementally to build out this section and hopefully make it an easy review.

As stated before I have a clear conflict of interest. And, as stated in my original request, this new Services section draft that is intended to replace the current Website features section.

As I've stated above, I understand that I have a clear conflict of interest. I'm posting these edit requests as small slices to make reviewing more painless. Tagging Nythar here as they've previously expressed interest in reviewing these requests.ZillowHaley (talk) 19:01, 11 March 2024 (UTC)Reply

Not done for now: Replacing that entire section would remove a lot of useful information, especially about the history of your services. I'd suggest you first get WP:CONSENSUS for this since it's a big change. Encoded  Talk 💬 17:13, 1 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi Encoded, would you prefer if I post the full edit request for the Services section to see it all at once? It might not seem like as big of a change with the full context. Let me know! ZillowHaley (talk) 22:05, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply
Hi @ZillowHaley, apologies I didn’t realise there was more - go ahead and post it (or link it if you’ve got it in draftspace) and I’ll take a look tomorrow as it’s quite late where I am now. Thanks, Encoded  Talk 💬 22:48, 8 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Website features / Services section request

edit

Hi Encoded, adding the full Services section edit request (to replace the website features) as we chatted about above. The context behind the change: Right now this section is a hodgepodge of historical factoids, including claims about services, features, and tools that are no longer available. Some of this information would thus feel more appropriate for the History section, where key development milestones are already covered. It also feels misleading to label this section as Website features, as (a) many users obviously access the Zillow platform through the Zillow mobile app, and (b) features are functionally an extension of services, a concept that provides a better organizational framework.

As you can see, this section is structured around four kinds of services: buyer services, seller services, renter services, and financing services. Variations of this framework for categorizing Zillow's services are also used by peer-reviewed journals,[1] academic textbooks,[2] and SEC filings.[3] This draft includes all of the key information from the current Website features section, but with up-to-date figures and improved sourcing.

As I've stated above, I understand that (a) I have a clear conflict of interest as I work for Zillow and that (b) editors will thus want to closely review everything I'm proposing to ensure it aligns with content guidelines. I should say, though, that I think the Services draft is a clear improvement on the existing Website features section for the reasons described above. Please let me know what you think. Simple infobox update for new CEO

edit

Hello! Haley from Zillow back here with a request to update the infobox on this page to reflect the newly appointed CEO (announced on 8/7 at 1:05pm PT). My financial conflict of interest has been disclosed above at the top of this page and on my user page.

Below are suggestions and citations for bringing these details up-to-date:

  • Add Jeremy Wacksman (CEO) to the top of the list of Key people and add his title CEO[4]
  • Move Rich Barton (co-executive chairman) to the second on the list of Key people and update this title to co-executive chairman[5]
  • Update Lloyd Frink (co-executive chairman) to the third on the list of key people and his title to co-executive chairman[6]

Along with these edits, there are a few small edits in the intro and history sections that will need to be made to reflect the new CEO. I will make those edits at a later date, but if an editor agrees with my infobox update, I would appreciate it! I'll be back with additional edits once these are made. Hi @ZillowHaley,
I don't have time to verify these this morning, but I will point out that you have made the wrong type of edit request here. You've used the "semi-protected" template, which is intended for users without full editing permissions to request changes to protected pages. Zillow's page isn't protected - anyone can edit it. (But kudos to you for not doing so!) What you want is the "COI edit request" template, for users with a conflict of interest. More info here: WP:ER. PianoDan (talk) 16:59, 8 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Adding onto this, I've gone ahead and switched this to the correct template so it goes into the proper queue. Thanks for your patience, Haley! Bsoyka (t c g) 20:12, 8 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Thank you @Bsoyka and @PianoDan for your help updating the template, and for making the edit! I was curious why the template was wrong, but wasn't able to figure it out. Appreciate you both. ZillowHaley (talk) 19:10, 9 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
@ZillowHaley: You're all good! You used {{Request edit}}, which is intended for use with articles that are protected from editing and that your account is literally unable to edit. The correct template in your case is {{Edit COI}}, which is used with articles where you technically could edit but don't do to a conflict of interest. Just as a note, I really appreciate your compliance with all our relevant COI rules—I know they're a lot to understand, but I wish more of our paid contributors would go through the effort you are. The disclosure on your user page, your edit request, and your relevant sources are great, and I thank you. And to clarify, I haven't made the edit yet—someone else will come by and take a look at your request soon. Happy contributing! Bsoyka (t c g) 22:02, 9 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Appreciate the insight (and kudos) @Bsoyka! I definitely aim to go about this the right way so everyone has their needs met. Hoping someone stops by to complete the edit request soon - thank you again for your help and hope to work with you again! ZillowHaley (talk) 17:22, 12 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
Now that you are using the correct template, these look very straightforward :). I'm on them. --FeldBum (talk) 13:59, 13 August 2024 (UTC)Reply
@ZillowHaley done. Not sure about capitalization, but left as is for now. --FeldBum (talk) 15:44, 13 August 2024 (UTC)Reply

Simple infobox update to remove President and add COO

edit

Hello! This is Haley with Zillow requesting another update to Zillow's infobox. In Q4 2024, Zillow promoted a new COO and our President left the company.

I’d like to update the key people in the infobox, to ensure it's up to date. Below are suggestions and citations

  • Replace Susan Daimler (President) with Jun Choo (COO) in the list of Key People[1]

I'm looking for editors without a conflict to review and make these changes if they agree with my suggestions. Let me know if I can help, or if you have any questions. Thank you! ZillowHaley (talk) 21:22, 5 February 2025 (UTC)Reply

Requested COI Edit: Updates to “2015 to Present” Section

edit

Hello editors,

I work for Zillow Group and am requesting several factual updates to the “2015 to Present” section of the Zillow article. These additions reflect developments covered by independent, reliable news sources. I am not editing the article directly due to a conflict of interest and welcome any revisions or feedback from uninvolved editors.

Proposed Additions

ChatGPT partnership In October 2025, Zillow launched the Zillow app in ChatGPT, becoming the first real estate brand available on the platform and allowing users to search for homes directly within the ChatGPT interface.[1]

Zillow Showcase In April 2024, Zillow introduced Zillow Showcase, a listing format featuring upgraded media such as interactive floorplans, high-resolution photography, and 3D tours. Since launch, Zillow has added tools to Showcase including SkyTour, which offers interactive exterior views, and Virtual Staging, which uses AI-generated imagery to display furnished room options.[2][3]

Tools introduced for buyers and renters In 2024 and 2025, Zillow introduced several tools for home shoppers and renters. For buyers, Zillow launched BuyAbility, which provides an estimate of home affordability based on factors such as income, credit score, mortgage rates, and target monthly payment, as well as Zillow Home Loans Verified Pre-Approval, a digital process that allows users to submit and verify financial information to receive a lender-issued pre-approval letter.[4][5] For renters, Zillow introduced a portable rental application that can be reused for multiple listings on the platform, and CreditClimb, a feature that allows renters to report on-time rent payments to major credit bureaus.[6][7]
