Comments on Critical reception section

edit

The section has two obvious problems. The first is the rather silly, puzzling template (suggesting a bias that the reviews were all from the U.S. perspective)...there has been no discussion on this Talk page about it, I don't believe anyone would object to adding reviews from outside the United States (yet no one has done so), and it is an American movie so of course most of the reviews will be American. I get the sense that the movie (which I've not seen) was not as well received in some regions of the world. I am comfortable removing the template, but I post here first just in case. The second problem is that the reviews are far too much - extensive, numerous reviews with extended quotes. I don't believe all that is justified. I'd remove the extended quotes and a number of the other reviews (Wikipedia is not the place to compile all the reviews about a movie), leaving The Guardian review, which is the only foreign review. 2015 Vice Article

edit

This 2015 Vice article makes some pretty interesting claims about the CIA's involvement in the making of this movie, but I don't see any mention of it in the article or on this talk page. I didn't want to just jump in and write something about this into the article without discussing it first, but it's backed up by the report at the end of the article about CIA "Potential Ethics Violations Involving Film Producers." Does anyone have any thoughts on whether or not this should be mentioned in the article? - Aoidh (talk) 23:52, 11 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

The Dark-Thirty

edit

Should this article mention the similarly named book titled The Dark Thirty? Derpyhoi (talk) 22:28, 27 May 2023 (UTC)Reply

"Enhanced" Interrogation

edit

Enhanced interrogation is a propaganda term for torture, and not used outside of the USA. To use that term without disclaimer seems neither geographically nor politically neutral.  Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.28.194.193 (talk) 11:13, 2 April 2024 (UTC)Reply

Actor playing George is wrong

edit

Cast list says Jeremy Strong plays both George and Thomas. In fact George is played by Mark Strong - an entirely unrelated actor  Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.77.121.157 (talk) 09:33, 23 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Thanks! I fixed this. Erik (talk | contrib) (ping me) 13:55, 23 January 2025 (UTC)Reply

Allegations of pro-torture stance

edit

This section seems much too long and the vast majority of the content is just direct quotes from random (if notable) people expressing their opinions, with little actual independent reporting or third-party analysis presented. I think it needs to be trimmed considerably. --ZimZalaBimtalk 20:24, 1 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
