Legendary?
editI strongly believe we shoud avoid using the ambiguous word "legendary" when we are describing people of saga and myth, people who have never been proven to be historical. Changing short descrip. "Legendary" usually means great, admired, famous in modern English. SergeWoodzing (talk) 18:39, 30 September 2025 (UTC)
- I see where you're coming from but in the context of a neutral encyclopedia, I think most people would assume its literal meaning of something related to legend. "Legendary" is used by the parent list List of legendary kings of Sweden and widely used in similar articles. "Mythological" is also not without its own issues since when most people think of "mythological" and "Sweden" they will normally think of the Norse gods, so readers might be misled into thinking these are figures who are thought to have directed with Odin and other gods. I don't think the difference is worth fighting over here, but if you feel so strongly about it, I would suggest a WP:RM for the Swedish kings list (and perhaps for List of legendary kings of Denmark and any other as well). -- Patar knight - chat/contributions 19:58, 4 October 2025 (UTC)
- Stumbled here and agree it is bigger than any swedish kings. If we are discussing the English usage we might want to start with King Arthur for example who also is described as a "legendary king" in his article. Most in the category [Category:Legendary monarchs] would need an overhaul. 2A02:1406:1B3:DC0B:D883:82B6:2073:EEA3 (talk) 01:57, 5 October 2025 (UTC)
