Just how good is Kohli?

edit

Rather than edit war and insult each other in edit summaries, how about a proper discussion on whether Kohli is one of the best / best all-format / best limited-overs batters ever / of his era / for India?

Different sources say different things, so we need to come to a consensus, not just use the ref that supports our own POV.

Claims of greatness need multiple reliable sources, preferably including some from non-Indian media. We can even mention that sources / opinions differ, rather than a single black-or-white statement. Of course the lead should also summarise the rest of the article, so there should be a longer mention of his position within the pantheon of players later in the article. I think that nobody’s really talking here because the stan culture on this page is so heavy. People are treating this like a tribute page rather than an encyclopedia. My take is that limited-overs claim is solid and won't ruffle many feathers. Asserting all-format supremacy is more contentious and invites unnecessary debate, especially when considering his recent Test trajectory. Ashish 14:16, 7 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

In the overview, remove or change "Career End: 2025" as the career of this person has not ended yet. RSTKohli (talk) 01:29, 31 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Question: Where are you seeing this? The only mentions of his career ending are accurate and sourced mentions that he retired from Test cricket. FMRadio :3(chat | edits | she/her) 02:19, 31 December 2025 (UTC)Reply
Not done: it's not clear what changes you want made. Please detail the specific changes in a "change X to Y" format and provide a reliable source if appropriate. Day Creature (talk) 19:00, 31 December 2025 (UTC)Reply

Little correction.

Change "Considered one of the greatest all-format batsmen in the history of cricket, he has been acclaimed for his batting skills and records." To

"Considered one of the greatest all-format *batsman* in the history of cricket, he has been acclaimed for his batting skills and records." ~2026-33214-56 (talk) 15:22, 4 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

It's correct as it is. The statement refers to him being a member of a group of great batsmen (plural). Spike 'em (talk) 15:41, 4 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
