Fair use rationale for Image:Finalfantasyvlogocropped.jpg
edit
Image:Finalfantasyvlogocropped.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Removed "Undue Weight"
editdiff This tag {{Undue|date=November 2015}} give no explanation or why there is undue weight, neither on the page nor on the talk page, which is required.
If found no excessive weight in the article. Without further clarification there is no reason for this tag to be on the article.5.198.10.236 (talk)
Merger proposal
editI propose to merge Online gaming in China into this article Video gaming in China. Topics share a lot of details and so there doesn't seem to be any reason to have separate articles. I would definitely have a separate top-level section related to online gaming to capture things from that article not already in this one, since the MMO approach was highly popularized in China. Masem (t) 16:27, 19 September 2019 (UTC)
- Support No reason to really keep them separate. ~ Dissident93 (talk) 19:06, 19 September 2019 (UTC)
- Support Definitely agree, can address sourcing issues of Online gaming in China during the merge --[E.3][chat2][me] 08:10, 20 September 2019 (UTC)
- Support, as that article about online gaming seems to be forked from this one and doomed to being a little more than a permastub. GaɱingFørFuɲ365 08:49, 29 September 2019 (UTC).

Mention that minors can only play 3 hours of video games a week in lead?
editI think this is WP:DUE, but got reverted. Hundreds of millions of people living under an unusual and very restrictive law relating to video games[1] certainly seems lead-worthy to me. In fact this may be the single most important thing about video games in China. Thoughts? –Novem Linguae (talk) 08:18, 19 September 2021 (UTC)
- There's lot of other restrictions on minors related to games, and given this is about the video game industry in China, the specifics of that restriction aren't so much important as that such restrictions simply exist. --Masem (t) 13:09, 19 September 2021 (UTC)
- That said, a small modification of the current last sentence of the lede can be easily made without putting too much excessive weight on this factor, which I've done. (It is discussed in depth in the body obviously). --Masem (t) 13:25, 19 September 2021 (UTC)

Probable AI-generated text
editHi -- I added the AI-generated template here because many student edits, such as this and this, display many signs of LLM output without proper oversight. All of it needs extensive review for factual accuracy, tone (there are already issues there, the usual AI stuff), etc. Gnomingstuff (talk) 19:04, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- Both of those were added as part of the student assignment above, but given that was out of NYU Shanghai, the additions scream either LLM or translation. The first addition itself is repeating much of what's already in the article so not super helpful, and the latter, with the lede changes, was not as neutral as the original, so I've removed or reverted both. The rest of the article is stuff I recognize from either my edits or nearby ones. Masem (t) 19:11, 29 August 2025 (UTC)
- I think the removal of the tag is premature. ChatGPT likes to use long and convoluted section names and always uses curly punctuation, which I noticed when condensing said section names. A lot of this article reads like ChatGPT's model being unaware of Wikipedia's prohibitions on promotional material, hence the section "Chinese companies' strategies for global expansion" containing random factoids promoting NetEase in the blog-style tone that ChatGPT uses as a consequence of ripping off company websites. - As I can vouch for the rest of the article from my editing (for the most part), I've moved those tagged concerns to two sections that did appear to come from course editing and thus could have multiple issues. Masem (t) 23:13, 31 August 2025 (UTC)
