1993,4 or 5 WSJ
editThere is a Wall Street Journal article from 1993 to 1995 on a UK woman stealing dozens of garden gnomes being arrested for theft. She had arranged them all round Fer home to watch the World Cup. 2600:1700:D591:5F10:E9F1:F919:7FB8:E9A5 (talk) 19:56, 2 February 2023 (UTC)
An earlier example?
editA friend and I recall a travelling gnome from Coventry, UK or somewhere nearby in about 1978 or 1979. Its peregrinations were reported on local radio station Mercia Sound, and perhaps also in the Coventry Evening Telegraph and on BBC Midlands Today. It may have been Perkins, the Bedworth gnome; but IMO that source seems to reply on one person's memory, is very unspecific, disagrees in detail with my and my friend's memories, and is unusable. Does anyone else remember the incident - or, better, can anyone find a WP:RS? Narky Blert (talk) 15:09, 30 November 2025 (UTC)
