Wiki Education assignment: History of Modern East Asia
edit- Hi @Linathan, I highly recommend looking into the work "The Army of the Manchu Empire: The Conquest Army and the Imperial Army of Qing China, 1600–1727" by military historian Michael Fridholm on Essen, the book was published in 2024 and has plenty of factual historical work that has not been folded into this article. Inconsistency and/or problem with dates
editIn the “Beijing and the north (1644)” section, under “Administrative policies,” the article currently states: “On the orders of Nurhaci in 1629, a number of Chinese works considered to be of critical importance were translated into Manchu by Dahai.”
However, elsewhere in the article (“Conquest of Liaodong and other Jurchen tribes (1601–1626)”) Nurhaci is described as having been mortally wounded in 1626, and the article on the Battle of Ningyuan states that he died several months later. As written, the sentence seems to imply that Nurhaci personally issued the order in 1629, which appears chronologically inconsistent.
Would a wording such as the following be more accurate? “Following orders issued earlier by Nurhaci, Dahai translated several important Chinese works into Manchu in 1629.” Loric1984 (talk) 14:11, 25 May 2026 (UTC)
