Most wikis tell, that the tram started in 1860. German wiki tells 1860 on top, but than for the beginning of service.

Searching for more information, I've found http://www.aawsat.com/details.asp?section=67&article=515102&issueno=11095

Besides an Italian name of a ralway, perhaps the original name of the tram, all the text is in Arab, only. On top it mentions the year1860, in the text there are "16 July 1860", "1862", "8 January 1863" and "22 July 1863".
