Hector “Toe” Blake
editI grew up in Montreal in the 1960's and followed hockey during the era of Coach Hector "Toe" Blake. The story about how he got to be called "Toe" is that his mother was French speaking and his father was English. His mother pronounced his name with the French pronunciation, as "eck-toe", as the French does not always pronounce leading and ending consonants of words, especially a leading "h" and an ending "r". So "hector" is pronounced "eco-toe". ~2026-31940-22 (talk) 22:20, 28 May 2026 (UTC)
