I'll be updating the timeline to include a the history of prohibition at the state and federal levels. I have a little bit of concern that this will become too saturated with information or atleast go beyond the original scope of the article as it is a timeline of "legalization" rather than prohibition. If I feel like this is happening, I'll split the article into two separate articles. --WikiTryHardDieHard (talk) 00:17, 12 July 2014 (UTC)Reply

I'm going to begin to overhaul this article. Please take note of the standardizations and fix ups for future inclusions:
All instances of "marijuana" should be interchanged with "cannabis" as the two are synonymous and to keep with the article's title.
Use this syntax when adding entries:
""Year"": ""State"" ""type of legislation"" cannabis. ""Date of effect"".
(All other info can be included in other pages, unless the bill has a specific wikipage to link. This one should be clean and focus only on the timeline.)

Nebraska legalized medical marijuana on November 5th, 2024, as reported on here, but it is absent from the state timeline. This information is also listed on the relevant Wikipedia page Cannabis in Nebraska. Additionally, File:Map_of_US_state_cannabis_laws.svg has already been updated to reflect this change.
The state government is actively in the process of setting up a framework/registry for medical marijuana as outlined by the passed legislation, as reported on here and here.
