Accountability Sink

edit

Accountability sink is a term to describe a set of circumstances where things happen to people because decision making is delegated to a rule book, algorithm or faceless system not an identifiable human being. Wikipedia does have policies and bots. But it also has a culture of discussion and conversation. The absence of this culture would be an accountability sink. SomethingI think the Wikipedia community should avoid. You probably have heard of the notion POSIWID: ‘The purpose of a system is what it does.’ from Stafford Beer Derek J Moore (talk) 13:08, 22 March 2025 (UTC)Reply

Author

The author is not Dan Davies (writer) who wrote about Jimmy Savile. The publisher's description says he was born 1973; the Jimmy Savile author was born 1970. PamD 20:41, 15 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

But... on further looking, the publisher's page is showing info about their author Daniel Davies (born 1973, has written one novel) while also having a link to their author Dan Davies "former regulatory economist at the Bank of England and analyst for a number of investment banks", date of birth not specified, who seems the more likely author of The UM.
