Well... I am currently reading upon the book, The Other Wind... and I must say it is quite good. However, I'm having a bit of troble drawing some insightful meaning from the contents. I don't see a good spot for this info right now, but if someone writes a reception section, it might be fun to note that when this novel was translated and sold in Japan by Iwanami Shoten, it "was a runaway success: a record 60,000 copies", per this 2004 article.
