Requested move 12 November 2025
- The following is a closed discussion of a requested move. Please do not modify it. Subsequent comments should be made in a new section on the talk page. Editors desiring to contest the closing decision should consider a move review after discussing it on the closer's talk page. No further edits should be made to this discussion.
The result of the move request was: Withdrawn. I was unable to find any further sources which would show that the current title isn't the WP:COMMONNAME, thus I agree with Link20XX that it is. (closed by non-admin page mover) Tenshi! (Talk page) 16:24, 14 November 2025 (UTC)
The Garden of Sinners → ? - I do not believe The Garden of Sinners is the WP:COMMONNAME title in English-language sources. I have put the sources I have found below in tables.
Note: I have labelled ANN sources based on if they use Kara no Kyoukai or The Garden of Sinners using the abbreviations "KnK" and "TGoS".
| Kara no Kyoukai/Kara no Kyōkai | Automaton, mmos.com, ANN KnK-1, ANN KnK-2, ANN KnK-3, ANN KnK-4, ANN KnK-5, ANN KnK-6, ANN KnK-7, ANN KnK-8, ANN KnK-9, ANN KnK-10, ANN KnK-11, Times of India, IJLLL paper, RedQStudios, SimplyBinge, Beneath The Tangles, ComiPress, Comic Book Bin, Sakugablog |
|---|---|
| The Garden of Sinners | CBR-1, CBR-2, CBR-3, CrunchyRoll, ANN TGoS-1, ANN TGoS-2, ANN TGoS-3, ANN TGoS-4, ANN TGoS-5, ANN TGoS-6, ANN TGoS-7, Nintendo Wire, The Fandom Post, UK Anime Network |
As you can see, ANN has conflicting views on whether the series should be called Kara no Kyoukai (in any romanisation) or The Garden of Sinners. For reference, here is a table excluding ANN.
| Kara no Kyoukai/Kara no Kyōkai | Automaton, mmos.com, Times of India, IJLLL paper, RedQStudios, SimplyBinge, Beneath The Tangles, ComiPress, Comic Book Bin, Sakugablog |
|---|---|
| The Garden of Sinners | CBR-1, CBR-2, CBR-3, CrunchyRoll, Nintendo Wire, The Fandom Post, UK Anime Network |
I suggest that the article either be moved to Kara no Kyoukai or Kara no Kyōkai. Tenshi! (Talk page) 18:30, 12 November 2025 (UTC)

- Oppose Many of the sources you link above look more like blogs than WP:RS (Automaton, mmos, RedQStudios, Beneath the Tangles, SimplyBinge). Another thing is that the sources that use The Garden of Sinners are more recent, especially the ANN articles, and per WP:AGE MATTERS, newer sources should generally be preferred to older ones. In addition to what you link above, Otaku USA (), Collider (), Game Rant (), FandomWire (), and Siliconera () also use The Garden of Sinners. Link20XX (talk) 23:33, 12 November 2025 (UTC)
- A few more things: Variety use varies, with an older article () using Kara no Kyokai and a newer article () using The Garden of Sinners. I also found that Mechademia uses The Garden of Sinners (see , which can be accessed via WP:LIBRARY). Link20XX (talk) 00:09, 13 November 2025 (UTC)
- I disagree that Automaton and mmos.com are blogs, although RedQStudios, BTT and SB probably are. Made a new table with the years of publication for each source (ignoring RedQStudios, BTT and SB, and also Mechademia because JSTOR doesn't want to let me login for some reason so I can't see the source). I'll come back to this tomorrow and see if I can find any new sources. Tenshi! (Talk page) 01:21, 13 November 2025 (UTC)

- Here are some more sources I have found. If I find any more, I will update this. By the way, I will try and exclude primary sources (press releases, interviews), blogs, social media posts, and other unreliable sources. Please correct me if I include one of those by mistake.
- ANN: 2012-TGoS, 2017-TGoS, 2017-TGoS, 2015-TGoS; there's a lot more that I missed for sure.
- ScreenAnarchy: 2013-TGoS
- THEM Anime Reviews: undated-TGoS
- Otaku USA: 2013-KnK, 2014-TGoS, 2020-TGoS, 2009-TGoS, 2018-TGoS, 2023-TGoS; there's more too, but the first one was the only use of Kara no Kyokai I could find. Link20XX (talk) 02:42, 13 November 2025 (UTC)
- Some more finds:
- ANN: 2024-TGoS, 2024-TGoS, 2025-TGoS, 2025-TGoS, 2013-KnK
- ComingSoon.net: 2023-TGoS, 2021-TGoS
- Destructoid: 2018-TGoS.
- I'll keep looking. Link20XX (talk) 09:28, 13 November 2025 (UTC)
