Former good articleTNA X Division Championship was one of the Sports and recreation good articles, but it has been removed from the list. There are suggestions below for improving the article to meet the good article criteria. Once these issues have been addressed, the article can be renominated. Editors may also seek a reassessment of the decision if they believe there was a mistake.

Austin Aries

edit

As long as TNA's website still lists Aries as champion, he should be listed as so here.

He said he would hand in the title...doesn't mean he's done it yet.

Please leave Aries as the champion until a new champion is crowned at Destination X. As long as TNA lists him as the champion, his reign is still active. Thank You. Vjmlhds 02:43, 6 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
Yesterday's Impact started with Aries telling Hogan that "at the end of tonight, I'll hand it (the belt) over to you". Then after Kenny King's match he is asked if he's still going to relinquish the belt tonight and he answers "yes, by ten o'clock Hulk Hogan will have this belt in his hand". The show ended with Aries holding both titles, then clearly handing the X belt to Hogan and posing with just the world heavyweight title, this can be seen here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsRXt9Ior9I&feature=plcp. And the PWTorch source mentions Aries handing the belt to Hogan. The title is vacant, TNA just presumably doesn't want to add a blank picture in the title holder spot and are just going to wait until there's a new champion. If they haven't added the vacancy picture there now, they won't add it at the start of Destination X either, but will instead just automatically go to Kenny King or whomever wins the Ultimate X match. The roster page can't be looked as the be-all end-all source for the title's current situation, seeing as the same page has wrong ring names for Miss Tessmacher, Christopher Daniels, Douglas Williams and Rob Terry (Williams' ring name has been wrong for over two years), and still has a roster spot for Ric Flair, who according to TNA's own court documents has been released ages ago. IF Aries for some reason shows up at DX or the house shows before the PPV with the belt (highly unlikely), then this can be reverted back again.TheFBH (talk) 23:12, 6 July 2012 (UTC)Reply
All I'm interested in is accuracy as to when Aries' reign officially ended. I'll say this though...when TNA has vacated titles in the past, they had no problem with a blank picture and listing the title as vacant. Let's do this...if we see Aries walking into DX with the title, then July 8 goes down in the books as the end date for the title reign...if not, then July 5 (Thursday) will work. Spoiling results...

edit

I came to look at the "Option C" section of this article based on something said on Impact Wrestling tonight. Doing so spoiled the result of the match (that Austin Aries becomes the X Division Champion) and the results of another match (that Lashley is still the champion three weeks from now) AND the results of the Option C cash in (that Aries fails to cash it in).

Three weeks of content, and three matches, spoiled by one article. Why wasn't this content marked as a spoiler and hidden in some fashion?

GA concerns

edit

I'm informally reviewing this older GA as part of WP:SWEEPS2023, a GA sweeps project which has been ongoing for about two years. There are substantial amounts of uncited text in this article, which is a failure of Good Article Criteria #2b. A Good Article Reassessment may be necessary here.
