The result of the move request was: no consensus. This discussion had relatively low participation, and those editors who did weigh in largely did not agree with each other and/or only commented on subsets of the four proposed moves. It has been argued that the new names of these organizations have not yet reached WP:COMMONNAME status, which would be a point against their move, though would not prejudice the discussion against future RMs if usage can be shown to have shifted. On the whole, because of the short and scattered nature of the discussion, I don't believe any consensus has formed—and given that the discussion has been relisted several times and is nevertheless stagnant, I find it unlikely that consensus is on track to emerge if this RM remains open. – Sýn operates in both the telecommunications and media industries, so I felt the "(media corporation)" tag was inappropriate. Also, there was a need to distinguish this company from SYN Media in Australia, so I think "(Icelandic company)" would be a better compromise.
Someone made a separate request that the Stöð 2 article be moved to Sýn (TV channel) earlier; that request should be discussed on the Talk:Stöð 2 page.
For Stöð 2 Sport 2, I think it should instead be merged into what will be moved to Sýn Sport, so the latter article can cover all the channels in that group, like how the Sky Sports (UK) article does with its network of channels. 183.101.53.185 (talk) 07:59, 20 June 2025 (UTC) — Relisting. - Support moving Stöð 2 Sport → Sýn Sport and 365 (media corporation) → 365 miðlar. Oppose moving Vodafone Iceland → Sýn (mobile network operator). Quite frankly, Vodafone Iceland should just redirect to Sýn (media corporation) since it just repeated the same few lines that are now included in the Sýn article. There is no need to have a separate article for Sýn's mobile network. Not sure about Sýn (media corporation) → Sýn (Icelandic company) since it is indeed a Mass media company and mass media includes internet and mobiles. Alvaldi (talk) 12:52, 20 June 2025 (UTC)Reply

- Oppose moving Vodafone Iceland → Sýn (mobile network operator). The page should be preserved with the included information, or otherwise a new Sýn (telecommunications company) namespace for the new rebranded operator. The Vodafone Iceland brand existed for over 20 years and was the 2nd largest in Iceland, with significant history beginning as Íslandssími in the 1990s, unrelated to Sýn (an entertainment and adult TV channel at the time). - Vodafone Iceland simply changed its name to match its parent company. So, "everything is the same, except the name". --183.101.53.185 (talk) 07:47, 3 July 2025 (UTC)Reply

- Support, but only with an added redirect from Sýn (TV channel, 1990-2008) to Sýn Sport. Sýn was renamed to "Stöð 2 Sport" in 2008, see https://fotbolti.net/fullStory.php?id=59232 (in Icelandic). Also keep all old titles as redirects, as the new titles are not commonnames just yet. Snævar (talk) 18:24, 19 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
- Oppose all on the assumption that, as Snævar says, the new titles are not commonnames just yet. However they are correct that the old titles should be kept. Just not for that reason. Frankly much of the discussion above in my opinion shows no understanding of the issues. That comment is not to give instructions to the closer, rather to suggest to those participating that if they wish their !votes to influence the close, they should familiarise themselves with the relevant policies and procedures. - The closer is more than welcome to deny the move on the basis of Wikipedia:COMMONNAME. I do not care at all what the closer will do. Sýn is one of the largest news outlets in the country, so any news locally or references of foreign media to local ones are going to change the commonname quickly. Any competant closer is more than capable of taking any relevant policy into play. You know what, if you Andrewa post another move request once commonname applies and strikethrough your last sentance, then I will change my vote to oppose. No negotations, it is a take it or leave it type of deal. Snævar (talk) 23:03, 22 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
- I recommend that you review Wikipedia:consensus, and I repeat my suggestion that you review Wikipedia:Closing discussions#Consensus to which I linked (by another name) above, as this sort of deal (with or without negotations as you spell it) is not part of Wikipedia's decision making process.
