The result of the move request was: moved. (Swift (disambiguation) → Swift, Swift → Swift (bird)) (non-admin closure) ~ Aseleste (t, e | c, l) 11:48, 28 March 2021 (UTC)
– With dozens of meanings acknowledged for the term "Swift" or "SWIFT", it seems to me that the bird family does not meet our criteria for primary topic. Its usage is not much more likely than any other single topic, and more likely than all the other topics combined
, and does not appear to have substantially greater enduring notability and educational value than any other topic associated with that term

- Support Swift (programming language) gets more views (20,611) than the bird (6,855) and Taylor Swift gets 624,501 and Jonathan Swift gets 30,342[] though these are both PTMs. Google appears to return mainly the programming language though the Wikipedia article for the bird does come up, Images only returns the car and Books seems to be split. - Support per nom. Even the SWIFT used in banking has more pageviews than the bird. It seems right for the disambiguation page to be used instead of the bird. — Saadrafiq4 (talk) 11:58, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
- Support - While the bird is probably the most likely context for the term to be used in without further clarification, it doesn't seem to be the WP:PRIMARYTOPIC. HumanBodyPiloter5 (talk) 16:24, 21 March 2021 (UTC) Edit - Agree that "Swift (bird)" is preferable to the proposed title. HumanBodyPiloter5 (talk) 00:18, 22 March 2021 (UTC)
- Support 1st, move 2nd to Swift (bird) for WP:CONCISE and WP:CONSISTENT because there are ample examples of the (bird) disambiguation but none using (bird family). -- Netoholic @ 18:44, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
- Agree with this, the main issue though is no primary topic. Crouch, Swale (talk) 18:49, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
- Support 1st, move 2nd to Swift (bird) per WP:CONSISTENT (as mentioned above by Netoholic). Paintspot Infez (talk) 19:22, 21 March 2021 (UTC)
- Support, but use Swift (bird). -- Necrothesp (talk) 11:19, 26 March 2021 (UTC)

Swift → Swift (disambiguation) Swift (bird) → Swift – The long-term educational and cultural significance of the group of birds is obvious and overwhelming. They have existed for ancient time and have a deep relationship with human being. ——🦝 The Interaccoonale Will be the raccoon race (talk・contribs) 22:38, 30 May 2026 (UTC)

- Oppose Jonathan Swift is often referred to mononymously and also has major long-term significance. There does not appear to be any one primary topic. ᴢxᴄᴠʙɴᴍ (ᴛ) 20:26, 31 May 2026 (UTC)
- Oppose per previous discussion, the bird probably isn't primary by usage[]. Crouch, Swale (talk) 20:38, 31 May 2026 (UTC)
- Per WP:DPT, we can have a look at some standard stats, such as the WikiNav view of clickstreams, where it's fairly clear from the first graph that the bird is the single most popular topic, but with just a tiny plurality, nowhere near a level of majority needed to be declared primary topic by usage. As some of the other obvious uses seem to also have long-term significance, it would be far more convincing if one were to provide a comparative analysis, as opposed to just assertions. - Based on WikiNav view, Apple. Inc is the most popular topic, while we still decided that the plant is the most important topic based on WP:Common sense. ——🦝 The Interaccoonale Will be the raccoon race (talk・contribs) 17:31, 1 June 2026 (UTC)
- I would argue that the situation is rather different here.
- Apples have tremendous cultural significance as a critical foodstuff and religious icon. Swifts have significance in ecosystems but are otherwise a niche bird of which many may not be aware of.
- Jonathan Swift is one of the most famous writers in history, while Apple does not have much cultural significance outside of its major figures and inventions, which have their own articles; i.e. Steve Jobs, the iPhone, the iPod, etc. The company's corporate structure and its ludicrous earnings are not something on the mind of most people besides its employees and shareholders.
