Physical injuries
editDo physical injuries like bruises, cuts, and falling count? GeniusWolverine2763 (talk) 09:30, 18 May 2025 (UTC)
- @GeniusWolverine2763: If you find a source that says a bruise, cut, or fall generally cause people to start thinking of suicide, then possibly. We won't be adding it unless there's a reliable source, as per this website's policies (e.g. WP:RS). Komonzia (talk) 15:09, 18 May 2025 (UTC)

- Yes, I came here from the French version 'L'appel du vide' which is really not about suicide at all. It's an incorrect redirect. "High Place Phenomenon" or this: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intrusive_thought would be better. JPprivate (talk) 15:48, 21 April 2026 (UTC)
Image of Sappho
editI apologize for my lack of knowledge of Wikipedia procedure, and I hope this isn’t an inappropriate place to make a suggestion.
The image of the painting of Sappho near the top of the Suicidal Ideation article may not be the best or most accurate choice of image. For one, as mentioned in the article, suicidal ideation is a process of thought rather than action, so an image of someone on a precipice looking, perhaps, to jump, is not entirely representative of the term.
Moreover, my main concern is that the first thing someone might see when looking at an educational Internet resource to define the dark thoughts they’ve been having is a romanticized portrayal of suicide. I understand that Wikipedia is not primarily meant to be a mental health resource, nor am I promoting censorship of portrayals of sensitive topics. I just think it could be tactful to replace the image with something else, and I don’t think it would take anything away from the content of the article. The existing image can and should exist elsewhere on the site.
If there’s somewhere else I should be making this suggestion, please let me know! I hope anyone who bothered to read this far (lmao) has a wonderful day. ~2026-16773-78 (talk) 01:21, 18 March 2026 (UTC)
