Accuracy
editThe list of six baronets (taken from a pre-1840 edition of Burke's) is incomplete; I've attempted an outline of the various claims here, but I'm not totally sure I have everything right (and I'm pretty sure the 4th Baronet was the 3rd baronet's son); this requires original research and unpublished sources - the best that can be said is that the truth is confusing and obscure. --15:42, 11 October 2011 (UTC)
14 Dec 2025 - - (ACEJIM) I am the co-founder of the Clan Strachan Society and Clan Strachan Sennachie ('Historian'), and this page is horribly inaccurate, and assumes information from MacFarlane, Playfair, Cokayne's, Burke, and Rogers is accurate - - which it's not. You must look at primary sources (charters, grants, etc.), not these secondary poorly cited sources. I will attempt to update over time. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Acejim (talk • contribs) 14:07, 14 December 2025 (UTC)
Major edit
editTaking account of the above, I am editing the page in line with Wikipedia house style and WP:RS.
While it appears that the debates about succession have encyclopedic standing, under WP:NPOV we must largely present the evidence, leaving the reader to make judgements. There are, for example, known issues with Cokayne's Baronetage, but it is a standard authority. Wikipedia under WP:OR does not publish original research as such. For the more convenient handling of the material, I have made a gallery for the images at the end, and made a single table for the dozen "claimants", Some of the material on the page has been commented out (with <!-- -->), leaving it on the page but not shown. Much of the writing, while suitable for an academic paper making a case, does not comply with the house style here. Charles Matthews (talk) 07:11, 4 May 2026 (UTC)
