Lead

edit

(This comes last!)

A bit short, but I can't think of what else would belong there (and obviously we shouldn't be verbose to increase the word count!). The only suggestion I have is to consider using {{floruit}}, which would display something like {{fl|2011}}fl.2011. This is what is used for historical biographies where information about the timing of their birth is missing, but could work here. (See Wikipedia:Manual of Style/Lead section § Other details or phrases to include or exclude, which mentions relevant dates.) Open to persuasion. Best, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 22:14, 7 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

I will be honest, I am not sure if this would be great here, especially since the infobox has "2011–" in the years active session. If there were more sources about his early life I think it would suit but as I think that his year of birth is around 1990, I am not sure. DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 22:20, 7 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
True about the infobox—consider me persuaded! I'll close this as passed momentarily :) Best, HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 22:25, 7 June 2026 (UTC)Reply

  • I'm struggling with this sentence: Roberts then played Tess, one of Cinderella's Wicked Stepsisters, in the pantomime Cinderella at the Cambridge Arts Theatre, which ran from 24 November 2024 to 5 January 2025, which is a bit of a run-on sentence. It's also a bit surprising to hear about Cinderella's Wicked Stepsisters before we are told this is a production in any way related to one of the most famous fairy tales ever. My stab at a copy-edit would be Roberts joined the cast of the pantomime Cinderella at the Cambridge Arts Theatre, which ran from 24 November 2024 to 5 January 2025. He portrayed Tess, one of Cinderella's Wicked Stepsisters.
  • Just a comment: I love that there is a "Best Sisters" award! HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 04:32, 6 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
  • The production marked the theatre's reopening following extensive redevelopment, and Roberts and the cast rehearsed for the play in a church on Mill Road, Cambridge whilst renovations were taking place, only moving into the theatre a few days before the show began: this sentence is a bit hard to parse because it moves from the theatre, to the rehearsal, and then back to the theatre. Maybe Roberts rehearsed for the play in a church on Mill Road, Cambridge whilst extensive redevelopment were taking place, only moving into the theatre a few days before the show began.? The rest of the cast is implied by Roberts (did he rehearse on his own?), and the reader can easily infer that the extensive redevelopment means the theatre was not being used in the interim. Spot check complete! Two issues were found: refs 2a and 28a. See the below table :) HouseBlaster (talk • he/they) 01:45, 7 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you! For 2A, I tried to change it. For 28A, I did not change it as I think that "produced by Selladoor Worldwide" is good to be sourced as there are various productions of the play, whereas "which marked Roberts' professional debut in theatre" is good to have as a reader may assume that Roberts may have performed in other plays before and just verifies it. I am happy to discuss it though and open to suggestions if you think it should be removed! DaniloDaysOfOurLives (talk) 04:25, 7 June 2026 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for your hard work! Not sure why I included produced by Selladoor Worldwide in my comment; that is obviously verified by the source. I don't see where the source says it was Roberts's debut? I don't think that needs a citation (per WP:MINREF), so I would simply change the sentence to say In December 2014, it was announced that Roberts would play Posner in a revival of The History Boys, produced by Selladoor Worldwide,[1] which marked Roberts' professional debut in theatre. Roberts' family used to live near Lowestoft and they would take the train to see the Norwich pantomime every Christmas season, which sparked Roberts' love of theatre, calling it his "earliest memory of the excitement, singing and dancing".

I don't think this is within WP:LIMITED. I'd rewrite (e.g. During the Christmas season, he would travel from his home in Lowestoft to attend Norwich pantomimes. This sparked Roberts' love of theatre, calling it his "earliest memory of the excitement, singing and dancing").
During Roberts' time on the soap, George's storylines included romances and flings with Ste Hay (Kieron Richardson),

The Cambridge Critique's Anne Garvey opined that Roberts did a "a wonderful job" in his role, adding that his character would "make this pantomime special for all the children who will fall for his quiet charm – and energetic slapstick.
