I propose that the article The Stanley Clarke Band (band) be merge into this article. Musicians join many bands in their lifetimes. This is especially true of jazz musicians, who might form a different band for every album. Nothing is gained by having separate articles (usually stubs) for all of these bands, and much is lost.

• Don't merge: I Propose keeping the page individual but adding "see also" with a link back to Stanley Clarke, Ruslan Sirota and Hiromi.

Another interesting fact is the cover of the band's last album "The Message". AllAboutJazz.com highlights the fact that Stanley Clarke is "standing back on the cover pic, arms crossed, letting the youngsters grab the limelight".

Deodato album Prelude/Deodato 2 with Stanley

I didnt seem to see any entry in Stanley Clarke page re: his participation in the Grammy award winning album Prelude by Eumir Deodato and Deodato 2.How can anyone miss that. Or did i just not see it from the article. I am not very good at editing . If anyone can confirm my claim, somebody pls do the necessary changes. Thanks

piccolo bass

nothing in the article about clarke's use of instruments tuned an octave higher than a regular bass. it's something I'd say he was well-known for, certainly among bassists.

Guitarist?

Inaccurate Statement

I don't question that Stanley Clarke has contributed to jazz bass guitar music, but to make a statement such as: "Clarke gave the bass guitar a prominence it lacked in jazz-related music." is untrue. I'm not a jazz historian or expert in any way, but any person of average intelligence that knows anything about the evolution of jazz knows that Bop/Hard Bop, which was going strong when Mr. Clarke was born, featured the bass (albeit the double bass) prominently and indispensably. The statement in question might make sense if it used 'electric' bass guitar instead of just 'bass guitar'. In that regard I am not well informed enough to know if that makes sense, but the current statement is (not to be too harsh) ludicrous. Wayniack (talk) 17:42, 4 August 2025 (UTC)

Discussion of Influences

There's no actual mention of any sort of jazz influence on Stanley. Just bassists he happened to mention in an article. Mingus, Ron Carter, Ray Brown, even Hendrix were all big influences on his playing, and all it talks about are rock and pop guys, despite the fact that he has cited numerous jazz composers and bassists as integral to his style.
