It would be good to add an explanation of what Unicode modifier letters actually are.
editThe way the article is now, it kind of lets the reader understand something about what "modifier letters" could maybe be, but there's no clear definite answer. (I would have added this explanation myself, if only I myself had known; in fact looking for what "modifier letters" are is what's brought me to this article in the first place...) 2A02:8109:9200:7F58:9CE3:55B9:EF31:20B2 (talk) 02:36, 1 January 2016 (UTC)
- I agree. Furthermore, until now I had parsed it as (Spacing Modifier) Letters, i.e. letters used to modify spacing, but it seems now that Spacing (Modifier Letters) is the actual meaning. So it seems they're little letters for placing next to full-size letters to modify them in some way in IPA transcriptions. But if someone can source a clear, definitive explanation, to this effect or another, it would indeed be helpful. — Smjg (talk) 10:01, 23 January 2025 (UTC)
