Domestication of ostriches by Somalis
editI posted the fact that Somalis partially domesticated ostriches with reference from the work of the famous Italian explorer Luigi Robecchi Bricchetti. Abraylumi (talk) 16:38, 16 January 2026 (UTC)
Species vs subspecies
editthis topic is not settled in the scientific community, moreover many of the references used here are either out of date or point back to this page on Wikipedia. That is not credible means to establish fact. ~2026-72130-0 (talk) 13:09, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
- Could you be specific about which refs point back to here? Which ones are out of date? @Aa77zz: What's the Avilist stance here? - UtherSRG (talk) 15:23, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
- @UtherSRG: The article seems OK to me. The Somali ostrich is generally recognised as a full species: by the IOC, AviList (and thus Clements etc) and also by: Dickinson, E.C.; Remsen, J.V. Jr., eds. (2013). The Howard & Moore Complete Checklist of the Birds of the World (PDF). Vol. 1: Non-passerines (4th ed.). Eastbourne, UK: Aves Press. p. 1. ISBN 978-0-9568611-0-8.. The sources cite the article by Freitag and Robinson (1993) - which is also cited in the Wiki article. - Aa77zz (talk) 22:09, 2 February 2026 (UTC)
