editCan I suggest that we only include S-League records for this page, and keep the FAS Premier League records and other previous era records into the relevant pages that already exist?Frankie goh (talk) 12:30, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
At the moment, the only other relevant page is for the FAS Premier League (which was a very specific and short era). I think it's good to have a page that lists the full history of league football in Singapore. The historical information is at the bottom of the page and does not interfere with the information about the S.League. 13:47, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
- Well, why not add a page for the full Singapore football history so that the S.League page can have information only about the S.League, as it should be? Also, we could clean up the Trivia section at some point. Icedwater (talk) 04:06, 31 August 2010 (UTC)
Top 10 in Asia
editThe top 10 in Asia statement written on this page - although quite clearly sourced, isn't actually correct. If you view this link: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asian_Football_Confederation#AFC_Countries_Members_National_League_Ranking you will notice that they come 11th. So should this statement be deleted? Or should it be re-written to state that it was Graded C in 2008 which enabled one club to enter the AFC Champions League qualifying rounds. Grading of course will happen again in the future - so this article could be updated on a yearly basis
- I think the statement should probably be removed. Singopo (talk) 21:33, 3 May 2009 (UTC)
- Just say they are now ranked 11th in Asia. 121.7.193.170 (talk) 22:49, 11 May 2009 (UTC)
S.League Season pages
editI understand that discussing on the individual season articles talkpages will be more appropriate but instead of duplicating efforts and to garner a consensus, I thought it will be better to ask/discuss here.
2010 S.League and etc has all the results by week as a section each. This has lead to a bloated Topic List and quite unwieldy. I suggest to remove them as subsections and just bold each week, similar to a section header. It shrinks the topic list by a lot, making the article more easier to navigate.
Any suggestions? Thanks~! Xaiver0510 (talk) 05:30, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- Should definately be done. Or even removed. -Koppapa (talk) 15:28, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
- I agree, should be done or removed, put into a results gid which will be a lot of work mind! Need to find a set standard fr every season article aswell. Druryfire (talk) 17:17, 29 October 2011 (UTC)
Foreign clubs
editWith all the infobox editwar going on, there actually is not a sentence explaining the flags before the clubs. Why do foreign clubs play in the league? Are all players Brunei nationals there for example? Anyone with info please add some text somewhere.-Koppapa (talk) 23:11, 18 May 2013 (UTC)
- Very very late response, but I'll just add here for reference. We don't see Canadian flags besides just the Canada-based clubs in the US Major League Soccer league and season articles, and none for the American ones. SoHariboneagle927 (talk) 12:43, 28 October 2023 (UTC)
Not ready for GA nomination
edit@Icedwater: The History section is decent, but the rest of the article is a huge collection of statistics. To achieve GA status, the article needs some information about governance, finances and media coverage. See the Premier League and Major League Soccer articles for ideas, though of course, I do not expect that level of thoroughness. Please do not be discouraged, for I do appreciate the work that has been put into this article and look forward to seeing further improvements. --Hildanknight (talk) 13:17, 6 February 2015 (UTC)
- Not at all. I just thought it was worth a try. Icedwater (talk) 08:52, 7 February 2015 (UTC)
- @Icedwater: Perhaps you could try adding some information (with reliable references) about governance, finances and media coverage of the S.League? If you need help, let me know. --Hildanknight (talk) 16:41, 8 February 2015 (UTC)
- @Hildanknight: No problem, I'm looking things up. I don't need help as much as I need 27 hours in a day! :) Icedwater (talk) 01:58, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

Extended-confirmed-protected edit request on 7 March 2026
editThis edit request to S.League has been answered. Set the |answered= parameter to no to reactivate your request. |
Hello. Although this edit request is posted here on Talk:Singapore Premier League, it concerns the page S.League (a redirect); that's because Talk:S.League redirects here so it's tricky to post there, and trickier still for people to get there to see the message.
On the S.League page, please change the line {{R from short name}} to {{R from former name}}. That's because "S.League" is not the short name of the Singapore Premier League; it would be "SPL". Instead, "S.League" was the name of the top division of Singaporean football from 1996 to 2017. It was relaunched as the "Singapore Premier League" in 2018 and this name remains in use at present. You can find more information in the Singapore Premier League's article, at the section on the league's history.
On the Talk:S.League page, the latest edit summary says "Syncing redirect from main page", but the redirect categorization box on the talk page is not in sync with the main page. The talk page only has {{R from move}} but the main page has more. I suggest either copying the relevant content from the main page after the above edit has been made, or deleting all information related to redirect categorization from the talk page altogether.
Thanks for your help. ~2026-13727-45 (talk) 07:30, 7 March 2026 (UTC)
Partly done: 1st request is done. 2nd request is not done as I do not believe that talk pages are supposed to go in Category:Redirects from former names. The rcats on the talk page look fine to me right now. Day Creature (talk) 10:11, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
- @Day Creature: Thank you for fulfilling my edit request. I also saw on your list of contributions that you had responded to loads of other edit requests too; this is certainly an area of Wikipedia editing that is often neglected and underappreciated, so please accept my heartfelt thanks for your valuable effort, especially since you put in clear explanations with your replies.
- On the question of what to do with Talk:S.League, the talk page of a redirect usually isn't also a redirect, so it generally doesn't have any categorization templates, which is why I suggested it might make sense to delete them altogether (and perhaps one should even remove the redirect of Talk:S.League → Talk:Singapore Premier League). That said, I believe the talk page is a redirect because it was created together with the main article's move from S.League to Singapore Premier League, so the considerations in this case might be different. As you likely have more experience on how to handle something like this, I shall defer to your judgement. ~2026-13727-45 (talk) 20:22, 15 March 2026 (UTC)
