Proposal to Replace "Map of Silicon Valley"

edit

I propose to replace this "Map of Silicon Valley" with this map of high-tech employment in the Bay Area (and remove it from the economy section).

The existing map is unsourced. The link in the description is broken and there are no archived versions. It also appears to be the hand-drawn interpretation about what some individual considers to constitute Silicon Valley.

As discussed throughout the article, there is not solid consensus about what areas constitute Silicon Valley. The main source cited in the article, the Silicon Valley Chamber of Commerce, also states that "Silicon Valley is just as much a state-of-mind as it is a place." (https://www.svcentralchamber.com/we-are-silicon-valley/). If there is no objection, I will make the change in seven days. Lightandtruth (talk) 06:29, 11 February 2026 (UTC)Reply

We can have both maps. One shows the cities that sources talk about the most with regard to the topic. The other shows employment statistics, presenting San Francisco as being foremost in importance, the foundation city of the San Francisco Bay Area. The two maps show different aspects. But San Francisco is not usually considered part of the "valley"; certainly not geographically. Binksternet (talk) 06:49, 11 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
