Danmaku vs Manic Shmups

edit

It's my understanding that these are not the same thing. Manic shmups are, well, manic in nature i.e. very fast paced games that rely on your reflexes, whereas danmaku simply has tons of bullets on the screen at the same time. Touhou for example, is a very slow paced danmaku shooter. It rewards thinking and strategy as opposed to twitch reflexes.

Is this really the best representation of the genre that could be posted here? It seems like it was put here by the game's creator for a free ad. Why not R-Type or Star Soldier or something people have actually played and would recognize?

Article review

edit

It has been a while since this article has been reviewed (the 2021 review was closed due to the nominator's block) so taking a look I notice the following:

  • There is lots of uncited text, including entire paragraphs.
  • There is an orange "update needed" banner from 2017. Is this still valid?

Should this article go to WP:GAR? Z1720 (talk) 02:59, 5 November 2025 (UTC)Reply
