Semi protection
editArticle is briefly semi-protected to prevent the ongoing edit war between an IP editor wanting to add some detail about a question asked in a press conference, and multiple editors opposing that inclusion on various grounds. To the IP editor, rather than continuing the edit war please bring your proposed additional text to this talkpage for discussion and possible consensus. I suspect you may be asked how the addition satsifies WP:UNDUE and WP:NPOV, but if you think the change is worth making this is the avenue to do it.
To any IP editors wanting to make unrelated changes to the article: apologies that you are temporarily unable to do so directly, and please consider using the "edit request" template on this page including details of what you propose. -- Euryalus (talk) 01:51, 14 April 2023 (UTC)
BSA complaint
editHi @Traumnovelle:, I managed to find some more material on the Broadcasting Standards Authority's complaint against The Platform. The Spinoff has published an article by Duncan Greive giving more details about the complaint against The Platform. Apparently in July 2025, Plunket made remarks during a podcast on the show describing Maori tikanga as "mumbo jumbo." A listener named Richard Fanselow complained to Plunket, who dismissed his complaint on the grounds that The Platform was not subject to the BSA. Fanselow subsequently forwarded the matter to the BSA, which decided that it had jurisdiction over the case. Plunket has subsequently a YouTube video asking his followers not to harass Fanselow, whom Plunket is alleged to have doxed. Should I update Plunket's article and The Platform article to incorporate this information? Or would this not meet WP:BLP? Let me know what you think. Andykatib (talk) 09:55, 27 October 2025 (UTC)
- I think the notable thing here is the BSA's authority/remit. Plunket's comment is about as mild as possible. I don't believe the decision will rule against Plunket/The Platform nor do any of the other sources I've looked at, the preliminary document doesn't concern the complaint but rather whether the BSA has jurisdiction/merit to take the case. - Good morning, @Traumnovelle:. Thanks for your advice. Looks like The Platform article will be the best place for the BSA complaint. Sean Plunket may be no saint but it seems the BSA might have over-extended its reach in this case without waiting for a law change. Parliament under this government might drag its heels because David Seymour and Winston Peters seem to be fans of Plunket. Andykatib (talk) 19:49, 27 October 2025 (UTC)
- Agreed. I doubt they will choose to censure Plunket given they chose not to when he referred to someone as a 'hua' previously. Whether this results in legislative change or puts digital/internet media under the BSA's remit will be the noteworthy thing. Traumnovelle (talk) 21:57, 27 October 2025 (UTC)
