Independently Owned

edit

So, if "In 2015, Screen Rant was acquired by Valnet, Inc.", can we still say that it is the "the most visited, independently-owned movie and TV news site online"? I Feel Tired (talk) 20:25, 27 November 2020 (UTC)Reply

No, we cant. BigStinkyMonkeyNuts (talk) 17:06, 13 September 2022 (UTC)Reply
@I Feel Tired: Yes, if there are reliable sources we can cite for this, in accordance with WP:V/WP:NOR/WP:CS. Nightscream (talk) 00:43, 5 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

Game Rant

edit

The Game Rant sub-site also needs to be covered, since it redirects here.  — SMcCandlish ¢ 😼  22:07, 4 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

That's going to be difficult. I couldn't find any RS's that mention the site. InfiniteNexus (talk) 06:10, 6 November 2023 (UTC)Reply

InfiniteNexus, is it good enough to be merged with Valnet? This article's poorly sourced anyway. Kailash29792 (talk) 10:24, 13 October 2024 (UTC)Reply
Consensus in the discussion concluded not to merge the Screen Rant article. Trailblazer101 (talk) 15:32, 13 October 2024 (UTC)Reply

Screen Rant history is lacking

edit

The first 12 years of the site and its creation are missing. I have tried adding the briefest of pre-Valnet historical information and it has been reverted back to previous twice. There is a lot more that could be said about the creation and growth of the site from 2003-2015, but I tried adding just this and it was rejected:

"Screen Rant was launched by Vic Holtreman in 2003, who initially ran the site independently as a blog focused on movie news, reviews, and industry commentary. Over the next decade, the site grew steadily, expanding its coverage to include television and pop culture, while building a team of freelance contributors. Known for its fan-oriented voice and timely reporting on major franchises, Screen Rant became a prominent source of entertainment news during the rise of digital media in the 2000s."

There is a lot more that could be added to that. It grew from a hobby to a top 10 entertainment site while is was still in fact independently owned and run on a shoestring. Kettlebeller (talk) 16:54, 14 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
