Screen Gems' first years
editScreen Gems was into animation starting in 1934, not 1940. I've seen an image of a cartoon that had the 1934 copyright stamp by Screen Gems, Inc. King Shadeed 22:08, 16 November 2007 (UTC)
- I admit that I am speculating here, but this was probably a reissue print of one of the earlier Mintz-produced shorts, with the copyright reassigned to the subsequent owner. Ted Watson (talk) 19:48, 27 December 2007 (UTC)
Date format in citations
editA references section was added on 30 May 2010 in this version. The date format used in this case was an all-numeric one, which is not good practice. The first non-numeric date appeared on 16 September 2010 in this version in the format "Month DD, YYYY". --User:Ceyockey (talk to me) 02:43, 12 September 2015 (UTC)

A little FYI, DoctorHver, Jeannie and Partridge Family 2200 A.D. weren't completely produced by Hanna-Barbera. The former was first co-produced by Screen Gems and the latter was co-produced by its successor, Columbia Pictures Television. Both of them are based on I Dream of Jeannie and The Partridge Family and are both Columbia properties. I don't see what you're gaining out of moving both of those series when I reverted your edit and another user's about that the same thing!
Former names
editThis studio was originally called The Charles Mintz Studio which was founded in 1931 and not in 1933. I think we should add that it was originally called said Charles Mintz Studio? What do you think? Also, it's predecessor is Winkler Pictures which was renamed the Mintz Studio after Margaret Winkler was supplanted by her husband Charles Mintz. Also, W.J. Winkler Pictures was renamed Winkler Pictures as of 1924 according to here: https://www.newsweek.com/disney-origins-walt-margaret-winkler-hungarian-immigrant-1478670 --Evope (talk) 02:25, 26 December 2019 (UTC)Evan Kalani Opedal
founded
editWhy does this page say that Screen Gems was founded in 1949? It was 1933 when it was founded. It had Screen Gems Inc. as of 1948. --Evope (talk) 19:00, 27 November 2020 (UTC)

Splitting proposal
editI propose that the article be split into Screen Gems and Screen Gems (animation studio). While the second incarnation's individual notability is questionable. the animation studio is relatively well sourced and has more coverage to demonstrate its independent notability. Go D. Usopp (talk) 06:14, 27 February 2026 (UTC)
- I also proposed that the television and film divisions were split, so I now added a history. --DucNguyen0131 (talk) 04:08, 2 March 2026 (UTC)
- I would support any split efforts those three are not the same. DoctorHver (talk) 00:35, 3 March 2026 (UTC)
After article split
edit~2026-14703-94 recently re-added a section about the animation studio. I removed it because I feel it was too long and it doesn't belong here since we split off Screen Gems (animation studio). But maybe that's not quite right. Maybe we still should have a brief section about the animation studio here. The explanation of the origin of the name might be interesting for our readers. And I guess it's relevant that Columbia was also the parent company of the animation studio; otherwise, they probably couldn't have reused the trademarked name soon after the animation studio was closed. — Chrisahn (talk) 07:25, 8 March 2026 (UTC)
I also removed mentions of the animation studio from the infobox and the lead and added an entry to the disambiguation hat note instead. Does that make sense? Did I go too far? I guess it comes down to the question how much these companies had to do with each other. I don't really know anything about them, but if I understand correctly, the television studio didn't have anything in common with the animation studio, Columbia simply reused the name. If that's correct, we should treat them as separate companies, and my recent edits are justified. But I'm not quite sure. — Chrisahn (talk) 07:37, 8 March 2026 (UTC)
- Yes. I believe they should separate the television and movie studios as well. --DucNguyen0131 (talk) 03:32, 10 March 2026 (UTC)
- So does this mean we cant have a small section that mentions the animation studio for this page? ~2026-15599-02 (talk) 19:55, 13 March 2026 (UTC)
