editActually the film is School Of Rock! The "The" was originally in the title, but it got dropped. But, it ended up in the opening credits with the neon sign. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Madchester (talk • contribs) 06:59, 19 January 2005 (UTC)
Spolier/plot warning?
editDoes this article need a spoiler/plot warning? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Carr.christopher (talk • contribs) 20:57, 4 March 2005 (UTC)
I don't know... it only gives away the bare essentials... like a movie review. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.252.145.157 (talk) 00:54, 8 August 2005 (UTC)
Refer to Wikipedia's guidelines on this: Plot sections should not have spoiler warnings. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.47.152.212 (talk) 20:28, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
Wikipedia does not fool with "spoiler warnings". It's an encyclopedia. It's assumed that readers have come to learn about the subject. Laodah 06:13, 10 November 2016 (UTC)
WRONG!!!! WRONG!!!! AUGH!!!!!!!!
editDid somebody make changes to this article without seeing the movie? The girl who helps Jack Black with the band is the MANAGER, not the BACK-UP SINGER. There were three back-ups. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 4.252.145.157 (talk) 01:00, 8 August 2005 (UTC)
- Be bold, make the changes yourself. also she is seen singing back up during the encore. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 82.22.117.84 (talk) 11:55, 7 October 2005 (UTC)
POV?
editUnder trivia: "When the kids point out that they are influenced by crappy mainstream music,"
I'm going to get rid of the crappy, true as it may be. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 68.82.51.210 (talk) 15:24, 13 June 2006 (UTC)
Caption: "(BEN)"?!
editSomeone put "(BEN)" in the caption. I have no idea to what this refers so I'm taking it out. ----HughL [talk?]/[contribs] • 11:07, 11 July 2006 (UTC)
Likely just a vandal tagging a page with his name. Don't lose sleep over it. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Master Deusoma (talk • contribs) 22:36, 5 October 2006 (UTC)
Dewey shows the kids: The Beatles? ...and The White Stripes.
editHow did Dewey introduce them to The Beatles (as it says in the article)? Or is this just a mere example? I'm a pretty big fan and the only reference to the Fab Four that I saw was a sticker inside Dewey's van.
Also, I was very surprised at the mention of White Stripes. I'm a huge fan of them, too, and I thought it was so cool that Katie stood up for Meg. Jack White always says that people, when they see her drum, think she has no talent, but that's not what the music's about. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.167.183.135 (talk) 07:29, 20 July 2006 (UTC)
Stick it to the man
editReaders might think the main purpose is to "score chicks" or "get wasted." Dewey corrects these misperceptions as the true purpose is to "stick it to the man" because "one great rock show can change the world." — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.174.74.131 (talk) 14:19, 25 July 2006 (UTC)
trivia
editI deleted some info from the trivia section because some of it just said obvious things or things that really had no significance to the film. hope nobody minds. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Mitchbradt (talk • contribs) 21:13, 2 February 2007 (UTC)
Much of the trivia is about the music of the film. Could I suggest that somebody make a separate music section, detailing the music of the film in a sensible (perhaps chronological) way, and get rid of most of the trivia section in line with Wikipedia's guidelines? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.47.152.212 (talk) 20:30, 26 June 2007 (UTC)
Cartoon Network
editI think the thing about their not censoring it for cartoon network is uneccesary. Roz mouths the word in the theatrical and DVD releases; it's part of the film. In general, I don't think something that didn't happen is worthy of a mention. 68.101.192.118 04:55, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
No Vacancy
editWhy do I get re-directed to this page when I type in "no vacancy"?
I don't know how to change it, otherwise I would. Movietrailer 00:19, 27 June 2007 (UTC)
Because the band that Black's character that hes is kicked out of (and eventually wins Battle of the Bands) is named "No Vacancy". —Preceding unsigned comment added by 65.208.235.66 (talk) 21:53, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
Regarding amplifiers in the movie
editNot ALL of the amps in the movie are Marshalls, I definitely saw a Randall half-stack in the background and there is at least one other non-Marshall (couldn't tell since I'm watching on a very small screen).
I'm going to have to change that in the trivia section. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.166.219.11 (talk) 12:49, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
Genealogic tree
editDoes anyone know where can I find the genealogic tree of rock that appears drawn on the blackboard in a scene? I've tried hard to find it, but I can't.
If anyone knows how was it made, and can reproduce it the most accurately possible, I'll be grateful. 200.231.177.20 20:29, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:School of Rock Poster.jpg
edit
Image:School of Rock Poster.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.
Filming Locations
editSomeone repeatedly removes New Jersey as a filming location when several scenes were filmed in Central and North Jersey. IMDB lists several NJ locations and even the film's closing credits thank a few NJ municipalities. Parts of this movie were filmed in NJ. Leave it there. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.83.58.139 (talk) 14:50, 21 April 2008 (UTC)
The tagline
editI'm going to add a bit about the Tagline. it references the song another brick in the wall and I think it should deserve some mention. 70.64.72.220 (talk) 06:38, 23 May 2008 (UTC)
Led Zeppelin
editI added the little piece under soundtrack about obtaining the rights to the Immigrant Song. Given Zeppelin's history, I think it's definitely noteworthy (not to mention amazing) that they were able to get the rights to use it. Lazarusongrave (talk) 00:29, 27 September 2008 (UTC)
- It may also be worth mentioning that Jack Black had to make a video begging LZ to let them use the song. It was a DVD extra. 67.191.134.36 (talk) 04:08, 30 January 2011 (UTC)
Sister Act goes to grade school?
editI removed this from the first section:
Some critics however have complained that the film is little more than "Sister Act goes to grade school". ref: http://www.firstshowing.net/2008/07/14/its-official-school-of-rock-2-america-rocks-being-developed
because the reference doesn't say anything of the kind. Was this subtle vandalism? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Riceman0 (talk • contribs) 16:14, 22 February 2009 (UTC)
School of Rock 2: America Rocks!
editSchool of Rock 2: America Rocks! is a possible sequal to the first of School of Rock. Miranda Cosgrove was on the movie of School of Rock I'm not to sure about a second of School of Rock with Jack Black. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.255.82.179 (talk) 01:49, 9 November 2009 (UTC)

- School of Rock → School of Rock (film)
- School of Rock (disambiguation) → School of Rock There are other articles called "School of Rock". 2A02:C7D:564B:D300:F0AF:3E31:A9EB:E342 (talk) 20:29, 1 June 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose and there are also other articles called "Paris". Unreal7 (talk) 09:09, 2 June 2016 (UTC)
- Oppose, the film meets WP:PRIMARYTOPIC as the only topics that come close in pageviews are the musical and TV series, both of which are based on the film. With two notable spinoffs clearly the film's significance is high and it still gets the most views anyway. Nohomersryan (talk) 13:52, 2 June 2016 (UTC)

School of Rock → The School of Rock – This page needs to be moved for the following reasons: (1) The film’s onscreen title includes the “the.” (2) The theatrical poster’s billing block includes the “the.” (3) The band’s name in the movie includes the “the.” (4) The movie’s title has always been The School of Rock. - And is currently indeffed for inappropriate user name and promotional editing, both of them concerning this article. If there were any further need to investigate, they also seem to have an undisclosed COI on this topic. Andrewa (talk) 01:31, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
- — TheSchoolOfRock (talk • contribs) has made few or no other edits outside this topic. — BarrelProof (talk) 02:20, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
- Leaning against: There is no "the" on the top of the poster art (shown at the top of the article) or on IMDb, Box Office Mojo, Metacritic, RogerEbert.com, Variety or in the AFI catalog. Generally, AFAIK, Wikipedia omits "the" if it is not consistently included in independent reliable sources. — BarrelProof (talk) 02:14, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose. OP's justifications do not include any mention of secondary source usage, which is the only thing that matters. See WP:COMMONNAME. 162 etc. (talk) 20:17, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose. It doesn't need to be moved, especially not for the reasons given. Seasider53 (talk) 22:35, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose per above, both are traditional common names of the film, and per WP:THE. Randy Kryn (talk) 23:05, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
- Oppose. Seems to be just another promotional attempt by the now-indeffed nom. No case to answer. Andrewa (talk) 01:31, 6 May 2025 (UTC)
German film?
editHow is this a German film? It was made and produced in America, by Americans and by American companies. JDDJS (talk to me • see what I've done) 06:00, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
- Sometimes it has to do with financing. Looking at the Variety review here, it does mention "Munich Film Partners". It is probably too much false equivalence to have both the United States and Germany. Like Fight Club has been considered US/German because of some German financing, but it's excessive to call it a German film or production in part. (It has a note, if you want to use that here to footnote the reason this one has been categorized as German.) Erik (talk | contrib) 15:04, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
- You can see the Fight Club discussion here: Talk:Fight Club/Archive 5 § Germany. Thanks, Erik (talk | contrib) 15:08, 11 November 2025 (UTC)
