Fair use rationale for Image:PLflag.gif

edit

Image:PLflag.gif is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 05:10, 6 June 2007 (UTC)Reply

Removed the previous economy section (2 lines...), which, to my best knowledge was completely wrong and probably mixed up with something else (totallly different than wiki french to start with....). If someone references for that alledged dye production, please provide them. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 79.88.179.93 (talk) 15:56, 7 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Flag of Sarthe

edit

The 'flag' of Sarthe currently listed by this article doesn't seem to be an actual offical flag. More so, it appears that Sarthe and most other French departments don't have an official flag at all. I looked if Sarthe might have an official logo to show on the page instead, but this does not seem to be the case either. Searching for 'drapeau' or 'logo' on the departements website gives no relevant results (for contrast, the department of Aube does have an official logo, but not a flag).

Therefore I propose removing the flag currently shown in this article. I also propose looking into the flags shown in the articles of other French departments, possible replacing them with an official logo, or removing them if necessary. Jerom Bastiaansen (talk) 19:40, 3 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

While not authoritative, the speculation around the status of the flag seems to originate on this webpage, which cites a few photos of the design in semi- or pseudo-official contexts. For further clarification: how are flags deemed "official" for purposes of display on the appropriate locale's page? Perhaps this could be codified if not already.
