I can't find where Wedding has been CONVICTED of drug trafficking

edit

I'm changing the lede. None of the sources, nor any of my googling, show evidence that Wedding has been convicted of drug trafficking. Yet someone has put that as his initial descriptor, ahead of snowboarder. Pretty sure a BLP needs documentation for such claims. YoPienso (talk) 22:03, 23 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Thank you for linking to the ESPN site. ABC has a good timeline. I think a number of us are unaware of his earlier conviction as a small drug dealer and are focusing on his recent arrest for developing a much larger operation. YoPienso (talk) 06:03, 25 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
You say that none of the sources and no googling contain any evidence that Wedding has been convicted. At the time I'm typing this the footnote numbered 12 contains this sentence: "However, in May 2010 he was convicted of attempting to buy cocaine from a US government agent in 2008, and was sentenced to four years in prison." When I feed the text "Was Ryan Wedding ever convicted for a dug offense?" into Google, the FIRST SENTENCE that comes up is "Wedding was previously convicted in the U.S. of conspiracy to distribute cocaine and was sentenced to prison in 2010, federal records show". Your edits and talk-page entry are the most blatant example of outright, premeditated LYING that I've ever seen in Wikipedia. The article should identity him as a convicted drug-peddler, not "alleged". How much is Wedding paying you to whitewash this article's intro? I do not have the competence to access the actual judicial-systems records that detail his arrest (with two accomplices who later pled guilty), trial, and conviction, but before I would EVER assert that such records DO NOT exist I would hire someone who DOES have the competence to search for them, and, should the searches bear no fruit, only THEN would I say "there's no record of this". You can't say that if you simply don't know how to FIND such records.~2026-54434-1 (talk) 19:29, 25 January 2026 (UTC)Christopher Lawrence SimpsonReply
He was convicted of attempting to buy cocaine. That's not the same as being convicted of drug trafficking or any of the other crimes he's accused of. His status as a drug lord, his murder of three people, and other crimes are all alleged. ArtemisiaGentileschiFan (talk) 20:35, 25 January 2026 (UTC)Reply
Agree, we have to manage WP:BLP NPOV on this article. We dont convict people in the court of wikipedia, let this thing run its course. Jtbobwaysf (talk) 06:29, 26 January 2026 (UTC)Reply

Please remove FBI ten most wanted navbox from article. He is no longer such and navbox no longer links it to him. ~2026-15946-40 (talk) 23:34, 14 March 2026 (UTC)Reply
