The letter to the Times

edit

We have a "citation needed" tag on

At the time of the disaster there were allegations that local residents were becoming rich from the spoils of the wreck or exploiting grieving relatives of the victims, and the "Moelfre Twenty-Eight" who had been involved in the rescue attempts sent a letter to The Times trying to set the record straight

I have searched the letters pages of the Times (assuming they mean the London paper) between 1859 and 1862, for the keywords "royal charter" along with "spoils" and "gold" and "profit" and "twenty-eight". I haven't found the letter. What reason do we have for thinking it exists? Marnanel (talk) 13:46, 4 July 2025 (UTC)Reply
