Merge to riparian strip?

edit

Shouldn't this article be combined with Riparian strip?  Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.48.140.145 (talk) 09:37, 13 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

No. Not all riparian strips or riparian buffers are forested. You can have scrubs, grasses or unfortunately bare soil in riparian strips. --Ray 16:17, 13 March 2006 (UTC)Reply

non flowing water bodies

edit

upon what authority does riparian refer to "non-flowing" bodies of water. i have only seen it used to denote the fringe of a flowing water body. Anlace 05:42, 6 April 2006 (UTC)Reply

Merge to riparian zone

edit

I don't see the distinction between to be significant enough to separate out, at least in the condition of the article as is.Apothecia (talk) 00:14, 16 January 2010 (UTC)Reply

Atlantic coastal salt marsh is not a riparian forest

edit

I like the article but I wonder why the uppermost photo (Atlantic salt marsh) is attached here as it has nothing in common with a riparian forest. In my view the photo would be helpful in an article on salt marshes, e.g. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Salt_marsh Hana Cizkova 19:01, 18 January 2017 (UTC)

Content removed from "Riparian zones" article, that could be added to this one

edit

I removed a section from the Riparian zones article that was about Characteristics of Riparian forests. It was also a section that was suspected to be LLM-generated content and did not include any citations. The content in that section all was mentioned in this article except for these points below, which future people seeing this may wish to add to this article, if you can find citations for them:

- that the vegetarian in riparian forests exhibits a multi-layered structure

- that moisture-dependent trees are the dominant feature, giving these forests a unique appearance, especially in savanna regions, and that these trees are accompanied by a variety of mesic understorey, shrub, and ground cover species. PrairieRose15 (talk) 19:49, 24 February 2026 (UTC)Reply
