Republic of Egypt (1953) → Republic of Egypt (1953–1958) – Including the beginning and end year is more percise and clear to the reader. This is how articles on other countries during particular periods are titled, e.g. Republic of China (1912–1949), Provisional Government of the Philippines (1986–1987), etc. SociusMono1976 (talk) 03:27, 4 February 2024 (UTC) — Relisting. - Relisting comment: This one appears to be a bit messy. It looks like this is more or less a recreation of an article that was redirected in 2021. Fixing this may require histmerging. Relisting to get more eyes on this. Bensci54 (talk) 04:27, 11 February 2024 (UTC)

Unmerged
editHi @The Eloquent Peasant, Turnopoems, GnocchiFan, Celia Homeford, ColorfulSmoke, Chipmunkdavis, BegbertBiggs, Lennart97, and SnowFire:
Per Talk:Egypt/Archive_6#Merger_discussion: both article have been merged. The problem is we have not sources from historians about these Republic, because it is the same regime. Or merge with History of Egypt under Gamal Abdel Nasser. Panam2014 (talk) 21:18, 27 April 2025 (UTC)
- Theoretically, this page shouldn't read as a history page, but in practice it does. CMD (talk) 02:56, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Chipmunkdavis: but since we have a page about Nasser's rule, we should merge it, no? Panam2014 (talk) 17:33, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
- Not on that argument alone, there can be many pages within a topic. CMD (talk) 00:49, 29 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Chipmunkdavis: there are no centered sources about this republic. Panam2014 (talk) 21:11, 30 April 2025 (UTC)

- @Panam2014 Can you clarify the suggestion? Do you think it shouldn't be a separate article because it's the same as the current state? Turnopoems (talk) 18:04, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Turnopoems: Yes. And we have already History of Egypt under Gamal Abdel Nasser. Panam2014 (talk) 18:11, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
- In that discussion, several editors noted that the United Arab Republic functioned more as a federation of nations rather than as a fully sovereign entity in its own right. If this characterization can be substantiated more robustly here, at least as a technical clarification, then I would support this proposal. Turnopoems (talk) 19:06, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
- @Turnopoems: Yes, United Arab Republic is mainly about the 1958-61 period, and 1971 is only given because of the name change. Panam2014 (talk) 20:21, 28 April 2025 (UTC)
